the other thing that never seems to cross some people's minds is that perhaps some of us are not burning up to get to the States... I personally have never had a real desire to even visit, let alone move there; of course I'm happy to, and am making plans and trying to look forward to things there, but my heart is in Europe... I always dreamed of living in Europe, and when I finally moved here and loved it so much I was so happy

the only reason my SO didn't come to join me is because he's got a son, and while he's almost old enough to be without his dad for extended periods, my SO didn't want to leave him before he finished high school, and I applaud that, so I'm the one making the move

some of these idiots who are making all manner of assumptions about these hordes of foreigners desperate for green cards should try to get their tiny minds around the fact that everyone is DIFFERENT, and so are all our situations

How many of us on the boards are naturalized US citizens? How many of us spent a significant amount of time outside the US? How many of us grew up outside the US?

I just wish that all the nasaying ####### who post their stupid remarks would do some research before proving their ignorance to the world.

They also don't understand that not everyone jumps at the chance to move the US the second it's brought up.

Before we got engaged, my fiancee was all like "omg I don't know if I want to move yet, I have to figure things out, etc."

She finally decided that she did, so yeah.

This was while she was still in college over there, but yeah.

The people posting those awful comments are probably the same people who think the only good immigrant is a deported immigrant, but they fail to realize that unless you have Native American blood in you, you're an immigrant too!

I just want to second this. My fiance is moving here from Australia....10,000 miles away and no one knows how far that is until you get on a plane for 24 hours!! I haven't read those comments, but I wish people would realize that not everyone wants to jump at the chance to move to America. Our fiances are sacrificing a lot by leaving the country they have most likely grown up in. Still the Prettiest, I think you are from Australia right? So maybe you understand just how far away it is moving to America.

I just read the comments from the article in the Washington Post. Outrageous! But these are the same ignorant opinions we all face as we fight to bring our loved ones here. I just couldn't hold my mouth from giving my opinions. I just finished a lengthy comment on the article. And I'm proud of Wendy for doing this. We all should be. I urge all of you to create a quick membership with the Washington Post in order to post a comment. Takes only a minute or so. some very sad individuals speaking their minds there. And people wonder why the rest of the world views us so dimly. Morons.
