It might be a bit of a long shot, but if everyone who is, essentially, having part of their lives held hostage by VSC, starts writing to the senators in Vermont, perhaps we might get somewhere?

http://leahy.senate.gov/contact.cfm

http://sanders.senate.gov/comments

They both kind of say "We pick Vermonters first to reply to" but...Leahy's site mentions "Ties to Vermont" and as far as I am concerned, a case stuck in the new hell that is VSC should qualify.

Thoughts? Other ideas?

thejoz,

Problem with a class action lawsuit is that is often takes years to get into court. Look at the article below. They are getting their asses sued like crazy, but I bet the wait to get into court is years. We need to keep writing, everyone and anyone, whether or not they are our state representative or senators.

Lawsuits mount over U.S. immigration delay

Published: Sept. 10, 2007 at 10:46 AM

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 10 (UPI) -- The number of people suing the U.S. government for taking years to clear background checks for immigration is mounting, the Los Angeles Times said Monday.

Using the most recent figures available dating back to Aug. 7, the newspaper said almost 320,000 people were waiting for their FBI name checks, and of them, 61,000 had been waiting more than two years.

As a result, there are 4,100 lawsuits pending against the Citizenship and Immigration agency, up from 2,650 last year and about 680 in 2005, the Times said.

"There is nothing in immigration law that says that a citizenship application should take two, three, four years. That's absurd," said Ranjana Natarajan, a Southern California American Civil Liberties Union attorney who filed a class-action lawsuit last year.

FBI spokesman Bill Carter told the newspaper part of the problem is that many documents aren't electronic and scattered among the bureau's 265 offices nationwide, which causes delays for about 10 percent of applicants screened.

Carter said the bureau is in the process of adding staff to make more documents electronic and centralizing at a new records facility in Virginia, the report said.

I can imagine what kind of attitude he had!!!! So if a lot of petitions are with officers right now, why is it taking so long to take a decision! It is not like the applications and paperwork we sent are as big as the bible right?

Relax Byron, our time will come! We've been waiting so long.....I reached 5 months yesterday!!! But at the end, this waiting time will be worth it....Be happy to know that you're going to see Leidy next week and I'm sure you're gonna have a blast! :D After that time together in Panama, you'll see that time will fly and you'll have your approval!

Remain positive please!!!!

I can actually see what he meant in regards to possibly being able to get more sympathy and public support being separated from your spouse versus a fiance(e). Advice to me was the same at the time, basically that a K1 was a month faster than a K3. Of course a lot has changed since then when they were turning out NOA2s in less than a month in Mar/Apr 2007 and in under 2 weeks in 2004 at VSC. What a bunch of BS bureaucracy! i can't believe a Government agency representing our country is putting a bad taste like this in the mouths of our loved ones before they even arrive here.

Byron,

I am like you, pissed as hell. The only thing we can do is try to channel all that energy into making a difference. Who knows, if even one of the 27 letters I wrote so far are listen to...it seems to be the only hope short of a march in DC or Vermont. The lawsuit would take years just to get to court.

Especially with the " workers petitions" you know that their tax dollars mean more then us being with our SO's.......what a hopeless feeling....Whe i started months ago, i wrote to the USCIS director, local senator...what did i get ...NOTHING!!!!

One of the hard parts of this process is that the longer you wait the more stressed out you become.

It gets to the point where the stress starts to morph into a kind of monster that consumes all your peace

of mind. It starts devouring all your will power and drains the energy from your mind and body. :help:

Like everyone on here I just want this to be over with so I can get on with my life.

I think it is a great idea for everyone to write these folks if you haven't already. It can't hurt. What else can we do besides check this board over and over just to see the same thing...VSC failing us all and affecting our lives and those we love in such a negative way. Thanks, thejoz

I to called again today..but I got a sweet lady. I just told the truth. I said I have no RFE...but Im concerned and was hoping you could help me. I said once again they used to turn around petitions so fast...was wondering what was going on and that I filed mid June. She asked me to hold while she got some information. She said they are STILL working on petitions from the week of May 21!! I said wow...you guys are at a stand still..but I knew someone that filed AFTER me in June and got their noa2. She didn't have a direct response. I mentioned my medical issues and that we really were worried cause we have to go through Egypt Embassy which is soo slow...and added to our wait time here..its making it very hard. She told me to go to my doctor, get a written letter how my health is (Im having heart issues or sth...doctor says Im heading for a massive heart attack/stroke..and early congestive heart failure, reduction of stress is KEY to my survival...HIS words) and to send a letter with HIS letter to them asking to expidite our petition....well I said at this point would that even help? She said yes. So off to the doctor to try to see what I can do. I take care of my elderly parents, one with Alzheimers and legally blind, other with dementia as well. I work 7 nights a week, and have no health insurance...I deal with numerous issues health wise...and while I hate the idea of sending this letter...I need him here...for my healths sake. Once hes' here and can work...and help my stress levels will come down thus helping to minimize my chances of heart attack or stroke and keep the congestive heart failure under control. Not to air my laundry.....but need to vent...I have no help here...no one else to take things to....you guys are it. I am to caged in to get out....and its taking its toll...

Anyways....just wanted to let u know they haven't gotten any further in the last 2 weeks since i called..........
