You know, I'm going to sound unpopular, but if numbers alone demanded a 6 month waiting period, it wouldn't bother me.

What bothers me is how right before we even sent our petition, VSC was still seen as cranking out NOA2's as fast as 30 days, or maybe 45.

The fact that it has gone from 30 to like, 120, if not 150 or 180, in the span of only a couple months is ridiculous.

And on top of that, they are being so opaque about what is really going on.

If the timeframe had always been 6 months being the standard, cool, whatever.

1 month, 4 months, 6 months, whatever.

I just want to know what the hell is going on. And clearly, we aren't getting even that.

I cannot accept numbers alone either or even if there was good communication...6 months is unaceptable period! Why can it be 6 months--because we tolerate poor service without much of a fight. It is totally BS. We pay for it and we demand timely service...not 6 freakin months. To put in into perspective. They have reasonable processing times for these:

129 Petition for A Nonimmigrant Worker H-1B - Specialty occupation - Visa to be issued abroad 2 Months; I-129 Petition for A Nonimmigrant Worker H-1B - Specialty occupation - Change of status in the U.S. 2 Months;; I-129 Petition for A Nonimmigrant Worker H-2A - Temporary workers 15 Days; I-129 Petition for A Nonimmigrant Worker H-2B - Other temporary workers 30 Days; I-129 Petition for A Nonimmigrant Worker H-3 - Temporary trainees 2 Months; I-129 Petition for A Nonimmigrant Worker L - Intracompany transfers 30 Days; I-129 Petition for A Nonimmigrant Worker Blanket L 2 Months; I-129 Petition for A Nonimmigrant Worker O - Extraordinary ability July 05, 2007; I-129 Petition for A Nonimmigrant Worker P - Athletes, artists, and entertainers July 05, 2007; I-129 Petition for A Nonimmigrant Worker Q - Cultural exchange visitors and exchange visitors participating in the Irish Peace process 2 Months; I-129 Petition for A Nonimmigrant Worker R - Religious occupation 2 Months; I-129 Petition for A Nonimmigrant Worker TN - North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) professional June 11, 2007

Why should we believe putting this ###### ahead of our families is acceptable if they communicated well. Communication is a part of the problem, but minor compared to their shitty 6 mo goal. And to add insult to injury these idiots don't allow us to file for (and note pay for) premium 15-day processing as they do for these:

Temporary Worker performing nonagricultural services H-2B; Trainee H-3; Intracompany Transferee, Executive or Manager Capacity L-1A; Intracompany Transferee, Specialized Knowledge Professional L-1B; Aliens of extraordinary ability or achievements in the sciences, arts, education, business, or athletics O-1; Aliens providing essential support services for a principal O-1 alien; O-2 Internationally recognized athlete or member of an internationally recognized entertainment group P-1; Essential Support Alien, highly skilled, that performs support services which are essential to the successful performance of the principal P-1 alien P-1S

Artist or Entertainer under a Reciprocal Exchange Program P-2; Essential Support Alien, highly skilled, that performs support services which are essential to the successful performance of the principal P-2 alien P-2S; Artist or Entertainer in a Culturally Unique Program P-3;

Essential Support Alien, highly skilled, that performs support services which are essential to the successful performance of the principal P-3 alien P-3S; International cultural exchange aliens Q-1; Alien in a Religious occupation R-1; NAFTA professional, Canada TN1-CANADA; NAFTA professional, Mexico TN2-MEXICO

And what does a company do when demand goes up? They hire more people to meet the requirements, they work overtime, weekends, whatever it takes. Raise the prices...well they did that and the service got worse. What needs done? Outsource their jobs to a contractor who can do it better and cheaper as has been proven time and time again.

So to me they can stick the 6 month goal where the sun doesn't shine. And would the goal be acceptable if they change it to 1 year if they were communicating with us? Not to me, hell no. I saw in 2004 where they approved some in less than 2 weeks. Then as shortly ago as Mar/Apr this year, less than 30 days. Life on earth is short and every day separated from our loved ones because of these clowns sucks. This part of the process should be quick. It is when the overseas embassy does some deeper checking and interviewing of the beneficiary is where I can understand a little more time. Heck, they make us and our beneficiaries go through hell to get all the necessary documents, etc and then there is a list of reasons a mile long that they can turn them down for at the embassy and on top of that many countries will not even give their citizens a passport if they or in some cases their relatives committed any crimes. 25% or more of our citizens probably couldn't pass all the requirements to get here and we have to put up with this ###### at this stage of the process. Unfreakenbelievable! :ranting:

I think everyone understands the frustration you are going through right now. The problem is amplified by the fact that historically VSC was the faster processing center for K1/K3 petitions. I recall feeling disappointment that we would be filing with CSC when I was doing research back in May. Things have certainly changed since then but I can empathise with what you are going through right now.

However, I am going to make a slightly contentious point having read through the last few pages of this thread. If the issue affecting K1/K3 approvals is that VSC are currently dealing with asylum applications as a priority then I believe that to be a justifiable decision. I understand, however, the point here is that USCIS are clearly understaffed and were unprepared for the obvious when the fee increase occurred and therefore the current slowdown is more extreme than it needed to be even with the refugee applicants. I am actually surprised that there are not separate systems in place for dealing with asylum seekers. Surely it would have been more prudent for USCIS to have one service center deal with these types of visa when they streamlined the service.

Having said all of this, I do agree that work-based visas should not be prioritised over US citizens applying for the right to be with the mother/father of their children/loved ones etc.

I genuinely hope we see some movement on approvals from VSC very soon. My best wishes to all waiting :)

I nominate virgillionaire for the Hershey's kisses campaign since he is so intent on doing it ;)

I volunteer to get attorney names/addresses.

Lets make this happen people!!!

HeHe, I guess I can't argue with that, I'm volunteered.

Had a couple of questions for brainstorming on here:

1) I guess we want to send them to the VSC? Same as K1 address or maybe a different one for normal mail?

2) I was more worried they might suspect it is tainted or poisoned and would react badly? So I was thinking maybe a 'drop-shipment' unopened direct from Hershey's or a broker might be safer?

3) I didn't think about the gift issue, maybe if we say they are for all and declare it less than a certain amount they would be satisfied?

4) Have to order one extra box for some volunteers

Let me know what you think!

I'll google around to try and find a place to procure it on the internet.

Ok, now who volunteers to break the no NOA2 streak?

Hershy kisses are a good idea and we can have them ship directly from Hershy's as long as we all agree and set a special K-1 friday and deliver a truck load, that way we can get some media attention or atleast Oprah show or some other TV Shows. I am for it.

Filed: K-1 Visa Country: India
Timeline

I send in the letter to Oprah and New York Senators. I hope they do something about this ridiculous wait.

In any case, I spoke to USCIS - VT today and after some pleading got the agent to give me specific information. She said, that they are processing applications as of May 21st now. However, they continue to be backed up and just because someone filed on June 21st, it does not mean that they will have their application approved by November 5th (1 month from now). It could take much longer.

So the waiting continues. One day we will all get our applications approved and over time stop visiting this site and eventually go our own seperate ways. However, this traumatic personal experience will never leave us. The amount of anxiety this has created in my life is unlike anything I have experienced, or even imagined that I would go through.

Thank you for the support group VJ. Thank you for drafting the letter (I know it must have taken a lot of time and effort). Finally, thank all of you for opening your hearts and sharing your stories!

Peace.

Also... I don´t get it. Why should work visas be more important than family type of visas? It´s not like our loved ones are coming here for vacation. Unless they are pregnant or something they sure wanna work too. So the country gets money from them paying the taxes too. Family is the base of the society and the country so what are they thinking?
