QUOTE(Bill B @ Oct 4 2007, 11:29 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I have uploaded a copy of the letter I have written.

It is modified from the one I have previously sent to some other officials.

Please, download it, edit it as you see fit, and send it off to...anyone!

But please remember, this needs to be kept as professional as possible otherwise it will be summarily ignored.

Nice draft thejoz! I will look at it closer tomorrow. As I said in another post tonight we need to focus a lot on the unreasonableness of the 6 month standard or USCIS will have an easy out. Thank you.

Quote from my other post: The important thing when writing all these folks is not to leave USCIS with the easy way out—basically telling your point of contact that they are within their 6 month goal. A major part of your writing should focus on the unreasonableness of the 6 month period they are using as a goal when just in March/April they were processing these applications within 30 days…and that was before the fee increases. You also need to focus on the audacity of USCIS to place a higher priority on Work VISAs and refugees, while also not offering us premium 15-day service as is offered for some other VISAs.

Exactly Bill and don't forget we cant be too narrow on the purpose of our efforts...this is intended to include ALL...no one else will want to join us if its all about the vermont service center and our "wait" time for just noa2. This has to incorporate an entire nation of us waiting, wondering and waddling through this red taped system...the MORE numbers of people we can gather the more we will be heard...

Excellent letter..very well worded...

now can we have one showing more of the human toll this has for Oprah??? Remember we aren't jujst stoping with government officials...some of us have sent letters/emails to them recently and now we are moving forward in our task to bring attention to our issues.

Also, well done adding in about the additional time for the remainder of the process.

We need a letter for Oprah that is heartfelt, emotionally charged and shows how this affects us. Like Byron not able to be with his girl while going through the tortures of a miscarriage...or the husband wife seperate for years trying to just be united as a family....

Find the mailing address for Mrs Winfrey and I will be more than happy to deliver emotional and heartwrenching.

You know, I'm going to sound unpopular, but if numbers alone demanded a 6 month waiting period, it wouldn't bother me.

What bothers me is how right before we even sent our petition, VSC was still seen as cranking out NOA2's as fast as 30 days, or maybe 45.

The fact that it has gone from 30 to like, 120, if not 150 or 180, in the span of only a couple months is ridiculous.

And on top of that, they are being so opaque about what is really going on.

If the timeframe had always been 6 months being the standard, cool, whatever.

1 month, 4 months, 6 months, whatever.

I just want to know what the hell is going on. And clearly, we aren't getting even that.

This is the point of the whole effort we need to make. Its the lack of information, misinformation the OVERALL processs..not just noa2. Our wait time for noa2 is just PART of this broken down process. Remember....once we finish noa2...the Embassy comes next..then Administrative Processing for some..then AOS and EAD and Advanced Paroles and years of other red tape, bad information and waiting..

Folks...this is ONLY THE START!!! We MUST stay focused on the PROCESS not just the wait for our NOA2. Joz...lets get some letters together for Oprah...that are family warming...showing the emotional side...u know how her shows are...lets focus also on the entire process breakdown as well....

We have email/mailing lists coming...

How can we encourage others from other threads and sites to join us??

Any ideas???

This has to be BIG folks....BIG...or it wont be heard....

Wow, I just woke up from a much needed nap, albiet on the couch. I haven't had a full 8 hours at one time in months!!!!!....so, any sleep is welcome.

Anyway, I have both letter drafts, thanks and I'll get those out tomorrow. As for the chocolates or kisses, GREAT!!! Just let me know how and when and I'll be certain to join in on this as well.

About a protest/march in Washington D.C., I'll look into that tomorrow as well. My only concern is that we have more than a handful of people, but I'll get all the specifics in case we decide this is worthwhile and we can make an impact.

See you all tomorrow!!

wow, I'm excited at all the action that's happened here overnight! :)

both your letters are GREAT, thejoz; thank you so much for writing them... I have to say though, I think the first one is simply too long; the longer a letter like that is, the less likely it is to be read

I've mentioned elsewhere that I work in campaigning, so this is based on a little more than just opinion! is there any way you can get the letter down to two pages (which I'd see as a maximum)? one page would be better, but with everything you're trying to say I think that would be difficult in the extreme...

well done everyone; can't wait to hear how you all get on :)

The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

Well, I do have a tendency to put too much detail into things, I can't lie there.

However, my aim was to be as detailed as possible because I didn't want anyone reading to go "oh look some impatient sob wants their case approved whatever" or something.

By clearly outlining what we truly seek, I think it is more likely to get more than a form letter.

I agree, and I'm not trying to dissuade you from that approach... it's just been found, over and over, that letters (particularly those going to officials or other people who received TONS of them) are more likely to be read - and read to the END - if they're reasonably short... I think the bullet points should appear on the first page too, because they'll draw the eye even if the reader's only skimming, but again, I can see how it might be hard to do that...

bottom line: it's a great letter

I just want you to think about how you can maximise its impact... I'll let you decide that though :)

Has it come to the government prioritizing work over family???

Come to? Where have you been? Money has been more important than family in this country for longer than I've been alive. (which is only 18 years of course ;)) Look around.....

I just emailed Oprah at www.oprah.com about our plight to bring our loved ones and the broken down system, delays and lack of information that plague a petitioning family. If everyone emailed asking for a show to be done about those of us waiting for our loved ones...who knows...maybe she'll consider a show on it????

I'll work on the address llist of high ranking US Immigration Attorneys....

Oprah is really very very powerful. Maybe we should start an emailing campaign to her.
