The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

i don't know what to say anymore... :( i was gonna ask the same question... how many days can we endure??? well, lucky are those who will be with their SOs soon regardless of NOA2. as for some, like me for example, i will not see my SO until he is allowed again to have his next vacation which is 6 months from his last visit here. So now, i'm just looking forward to have my interview in january or february so he could go with me.

shai (L) wilson

I'm facing something similar. I can't go back to visit my fiance until maybe February and it makes me feel even more sad. I'm trying to be happy and he keeps reminding me to be faithful. I'm not being very successful I must admit. Please, Please God, make a miracle happen and send my Bassi home for Christmas.

I found this story while browsing immigration laws the other day. It's on the process of legal immigration and how much it sucks:

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=5398818

Basically the average american seems concerned about 'illegals' coming in. So, if we can pitch our story as "This is why there are so many illegals... because THE PROCESS SUCKS and is MISMANAGED like everything else in the government right now" then we have a story that MIGHT catch the eye of the major networks.

Basically any sensational (remember.. journalism doesn't care about facts anymore) story about "This is where YOUR tax-money is wasted and THIS is why so many illegals are circumventing the system" to cause anger and fear in the viewer and then pan the camera to one of us crying and pining our fiancee, in order to get the 'emotional porn' factor into the story, we _may_ just have a the perfect story that one of the major news networks would put up.

Hell.. we should just make our own video news story. As long as it's minimal cost to them, has high emotional but little news content, they'll take it!

Gail

Not to discourage anyone relative to contacting the media however, I would be very surprised if any one of the producers at MSNBC took an interest in this particular topic relative to VSC. I understand that VSC is a nightmare, been there done that and posted it in the RFE thread, however VSC will back themselves up with "they are in the posted time frame".

If you are interested in the media route I would try CBS Evening News as the first step. They are National and they have a segment on the 6:30 Evening News entitled "Eye on America". A few years back I did an interview for that segment entitled "The War at Home".

Keep in mind that before any reputable journalist or producer takes on a story you need to provide them with concrete proof (not just in words) that there is a problem. Although we are protected under the Constitution of the United States relative to Free Speech and Freedom of the Press...we are ultimately a law suit happy Country. I think to some it is an instant guarenteed lottery!

Your best bet is to start with your Representatives Office. Demand that as a constituent you want your concerns addressed or you will be looking at a new candidate at election time. Remember they work for youyou do not work for them. Your hard earned money pays their salary. My favorite to use "my time is valuable yet I took the time out of my already busy schedule to vote, as my representative can return this in kind by taking the time to address any concerns that I may have".

You may also want to research those Senators that are taking an interest in Immigration Policy, Practices and Procedures......

On an ending note..it took over four months for our NOA2 but as I have said at the end of the day the material point is regardless of the wait (as hard as it is) we will ultimately be together.

Thank you so much for the link Gail! I listened to the discussion and it was enlightening. I only wish that they had did a little bit more on fiance(e)/spousal visas and the unfairness of it all. They spent a lot of time talking about work visas and citizenship. But still, good discussion.

while I was walking to work this morning, I thought of the saying 'hope long deferred makes the heart sick'...

we WILL get through this, but I can tell we are all becoming sick of heart; it's so very dispiriting :(

at least we can encourage one another, and at least we know there WILL BE an end, and a happy one... sometimes hard to focus on that though, isn't it :(

*invites everyone to a picnic in Regent's Park*

i agree... i wish i could go to the Central Park with my SO and then go to Serendipity III restaurant to have some frozen hot chocolate - he hasnt tried it too!!!!!! :( but im here at the other side of the world and my SO is heading to work while I'm going to sleep soon... Lucky are those who are only separated by borders on land, while most of us are separated by waters, and while one has a sun above him, the other one has a moon above her. have you ever wondered why the world is round(well not actually round as the theory says) and the lands were separated that used to be one (as the theory says too)??? no matter is the reason, isn't it strange???? i know it is strange but i also know it's wonderful. Life is full of wondrous things like love. And I don't think we would ever appreciate it this way if everything had not been like they were. this long process is ok... at least we know that there's still sunshine behind the dark clouds. it's normal to feel sad, but , never give up. we will all get there.

That was deep Shai!!! :D

The next time I'll see Pat will be for my interview...I think he's vacation at the firehouse start on november but he has a second job and I don't know how easy will be for him to come visit me, especially knowing that if he comes to Peru he has to come again for the interview and tickets are not cheap...that would be over 2000 for two tickets.... Plus expenses here.....I don't know....

Empr,

You are on to something here. Great idea! In addition to all the other letters/emails/phone calls many of us did, this could further the cause. We need to head off the possibility that VSC may change the time from 6mo to a longer period...with everything going on in immigration, including their processing commitment to 1000 iraqis a month this fiscal year, we could left way far back in the dust. Let's see, CSC is still cranking some NOA2's out (granted not at lightning speed)...none from VSC since September 27...any guess which Service Center may be investing all their adjudicators to the Iraqi and work VISA causes??? Total freakin BS and so is their stinkin 6mo "goal" or whatever they call it.

dont worry my friend, the time flies when you keep busy! i remember when i came to the terrible realization that i wouldnt be seeing my baby for 6 1/2 months...i couldnt even fathom such a long time because prior to this current seperation we had only been seperated for a maximum of 4 months...i didnt think i could go any longer...we have just now reached the 4 month seperation mark and only 2 1/2 more to go! im getting pretty close, right?! lol dont sweat it, you'll be together soon enough, and very soon you will be together forever! how wonderful...i know that both you and i simply cannot wait =) hang in there troops

Empr,

Here is what I was referring to, this extract from the AP. Read it and then reflect back on how VSC was turning out NOA2's in less than a month during Apr and how the times have climbed and climbed for us since. With a 1,000 a month Iraqi commitment along with all the Work VISAs with a less than 2mo "goal" it sure could spell even worse writing on the wall for us unless we continue to take actions.

Iraqi refugee admissions fall short

By MATTHEW LEE - Associated Press Writer

Last Updated 4:35 pm PDT Monday, October 1, 2007

"From a low of one Iraqi admitted in both April and May, the number shot up to 529 in August and 889 in September as the administration worked to streamline the process, according to an internal spreadsheet.

On Sept. 19, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff announced the appointment of two senior officials from their agencies to clear the logjam that had hampered admissions.

Several days later, administration officials announced that the United States would accept 1,000 Iraqi refugees per month for the next fiscal year beginning this month for a total of 12,000 between Sept. 30, 2007, and Oct. 1, 2008."

USCIS announced a few minutes ago that they will not process any H2B petitions with a receipt date after Sep 27, 2007. Of those that were received by Sep 27, 2007, they will randomly select enough petitions to process in order to reach the mandated cap of 33,000 workers for the first half of fiscal year 2008. The press release can be found here.

This might eventually be good for us. H2B petitions have a processing timeframe (service level committment) of 30 days. Presumably any H2B petitions in the pipeline will be processed by the end of October 2007 and that will free up some adjudicators.

Coincidentally(?), if they continue to ignore May K1 petitions until the they are finished the H2B's at the end of October, they will be approaching the 6 month service level committment.

At this point I am thinking that we will all be looking at a 6 month processing time and as a late July filer I do not expect my NOA2 until late January. I hope I am wrong, but that is my best guess right now.

dont worry my friend, the time flies when you keep busy! i remember when i came to the terrible realization that i wouldnt be seeing my baby for 6 1/2 months...i couldnt even fathom such a long time because prior to this current seperation we had only been seperated for a maximum of 4 months...i didnt think i could go any longer...we have just now reached the 4 month seperation mark and only 2 1/2 more to go! im getting pretty close, right?! lol dont sweat it, you'll be together soon enough, and very soon you will be together forever! how wonderful...i know that both you and i simply cannot wait =) hang in there troops

Thanks!

I saw a quote in the kitchen at work today that said " Worrying doesn't lessen tomorrow's troubles but it does lessen today's strength." Isn't that deep? I like it. So I wrote it on a sticky pad and put it on my computer next to my pic of my daughter and my fiance. (soon I won't be able to see the screen to work) I'm tryin'!
