While I think that processing the paperwork of refugees is a good thing I don't think that it means that everyone else must suffer for the lack of organizational/managerial skills at USCIS. This is not new news to anyone. They knew it was going to happen and were inadequately prepared for any of it. The fee increase was not a shock to anyone and the truckloads of applications were expected.

So why are they acting like all this came out of the blue?

And do they really think that the "appointment of two senior officials from their agencies to clear the logjam that had hampered admissions" is really going to clear up this mess? More adjudicators...yes. More people sitting in their cushy chairs...no.

What a mess.

would you really think it was unfair if it IS these displaced Iraqis who are taking precedence? and even if it's not, some of the others would surely be in similar situations... I'm impatient to get moving and start my new life, but these people are refugees, living in a foreign country, many of them probably under canvas or in other primitive conditions... if the UN has put them on a list for a new life, I for one don't mind a couple of months' extra wait while they get it; I'll relax here in my comfortable bed, or run down the stairs to my fridge full of food, or go out to the cinema, while I'm waiting... things they can't do

I hate to be the selfish weasel of the bunch, but yes, I think it is unfair and I dont think that my family is any more or less important than their families. We should all be equal, and if the USCIS sees fit to work on a first come first served basis, I will be more than happy to let them fall in line behind me, but no cutsies.

I may be the only one going out on the non PC limb here, but I bet more than a few others are feeling the same way.

i dont agree with the above statement, i think its like saying that the person with a bullet wound should wait in the emergency room until the person with a sprained ankle is finished with their turn...it does suck that we have to wait it out, but, and i cant speak for everyone here, my fiance has a home, a job and relative stability

the bottom line is that there are so many jobless people, why doesnt uscis just hire some?!!??!?!

I agree with you, Susie, and not just to be PC ;)

do I want my NOA2? hell yeah! do I get impatient from time to time? most certainly...

however, I also recognise that I'm one of the most privileged people on the planet right now, and I'm not trying to be holier-than-thou when I say I ATTEMPT to keep that in perspective... there simply is no comparison; my wait in a world of plenty cannot, in any capacity, be compared to someone waiting in a hell-hole of a refugee camp, possibly without a proper water supply, almost certainly without adequate shelter, or enough medical facilities, or schooling for their kids... this doesn't mean the system isn't rubbish, and doesn't mean there isn't room for MASSIVE improvements; US Wendy and Zee made some excellent comments on that point, with which I wholeheartedly agree, but in the meantime, I'll keep my 'problems' in perspective, or die in the attempt ;)

The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

Hmmm...I always keep in mind there is someone worse off then me..for personal reasons. And I do fight the pangs of jealousy of someone else coming first when I WANT my love here..but these others that are in desperate need, must get out of where they are. I agree USCIS is ineptly ready to handle these things and large influxes. Im confused...dazzled and dazed by the whole process to be honest...huge flucuations of feelings and emotions...to confusing to comment more...

what scares me is that CSC is starting to approve in JUNE!!! With only 11 VSC'ers approved in ALL of September Im worried my adjudication date is now WAYYYYYYYYYYYY off. I don't know what to think....but seeing so much movement in CSC is depressing me...am I a bit jealous?? sure. but I wish them all well...and am happy they are getting their approvals...would just feel better if VSC would move a bit faster to.
