Well, when you start throwing around blanket statements like 'it's my right!' and 'it's a free country!' I had to assume you meant the process was your right.

We do have a right to get information and we should have at the very least, adequate service from the system since we do pay for it. That's why I and others have written letters essentially asking "####### is going on?'

I guess I'm becoming a libertarian in my old age, but I dislike hearing the 'privilege' canard.

To whom do I go to have this privilege granted? The king?

First on all congratulations to NORA AND RYAN!

Yes, there are some earlier and that happens sometime as we all know. I will feel a lot better when I see a NOA 2 from VSC where the petitioner is not military. I spent 20 years in the military and I know military get priority service from USCIS many times. I do not disagree with them doing that for many reasons, but I am just saying I will be a lot more excited when I see VSC give another one to a non-military/non expedited couple. My senator's office called me today to respond to my letter. They told me they are getting quite a few letters and the more that come in, the more chance to influence a change. They also agreed to investigate the issue some more. They also agreed with the earfull I gave them on the poor communication and unreasonable 6mo time for K1/K3 processing versus other types of VISAs that have much shorter processing times and the fact that we are not given the opportunity like some other types of VISAs for expedited processing. I won't hold my breath for instant change, but the more of us that write, the more chance to make a difference. Good luck to everyone on getting their NOA 2 sooner rather than later.

I see what you mean, it just got to me I guess cause one of those 'vets' tossed that out before.

Where are you studying Yoruba? It may be an issue of circumstance, I'm from a smaller area so maybe those things jut aren't available here. My fiance speaks Hausa and of course a few other dialects, but let's not get crazy, I'd like to learn just one. I keep imagining our children talking about me right in front of my face and I don't even know I should be punishing them!

You are not going to believe this. I purchased a book with cassette tapes at the Lagos airport and Hausa language is in the book, along with Yoruba and Igbo. I also purchased an English/Yoruba dictionary from Amazon. com. I could make copies from the pages and forward to you if you would like.

A few of the people I met there send emails to me in Yoruba and English, so I think I am good at it. NOT

I will send you a website that has Yoruba beginners course. Hold on for a second. I also have to pretend I am working.

Wow! That's really cool. I will study Hausa. I only know how to say I love you and you are welcome. You'd be surprised how far that takes you in Ghana.

Bill, that's GREAT news. At least someone has a Senator or Senator's Aide who cares enough to follow up quickly. I'm happy to hear he's getting more than one complaint on the issue.

No doubt (IMHO)-->if we scream loud enough, they will be more likely to move things a little bit faster at VSC.

So far, a few emails with a reporter at Washington Post who says she'll consider doing a story......I'll let you know when this is solid. She sounded REALLY interested, but we'll see.
