Well we KNOW its slowed down...we KNOW we can't DO anything really but wait.... guess we have a few options, VERY FEW:

1. Be miserable and complain

2. Make the best of it...try to stay positive and look forward to the future

3. Be miserable and DO STH about it

4. Be positive and DO STH about it

I've been trying desperately to stay positive. I know everyone needs to vent. So anywhoo......my sweetie and I are planning the first couple of weeks home. Yes, I said HOME! I know some people go crazy doing paperwork the first week. But I really want to spend a week just vegging, maybe travel somewhere (in the US obviously), hold each other and breathe. Then we'll get to work on the papers and filing everything else under the sun for the next part of this process. What do you guys plan to do when you have your SOs here with that first week? (Keep it PG please :innocent: )

When my honey gets here I have no idea what we are going to do. I wanted to do a couple of days in NYC before coming back here to Philly but then again I LOVE Philly so why not spend our time here in the city? And we will probably take a trip to see his brother who lives in Virginia and my best friend who lives in Baltimore. All in the first week of him being here.

I really really really really really want to take a trip to Seattle. That's where I was born but because of all the moving around that my parents did around the world I haven't been there since I was 4. I really want to go back and explore it with him. I will probably plan that for the second week he is here.

It's hard to stay positive now for me because of one reason...as each day passes without an approval, seems like having Leidy here for Christmas is less likely!! And to have to be without her for the holidays would be soooooo depressing!!

Lots of travelling Zee. Sounds like a plan. I know that for sure I want us to spend the first week alone. Just us settling. Most of my family lives in GA now, so maybe the following week or so we'll make a trip down there to see everyone. Of course, we have to think about the wedding. To be honest, I really haven't thought much about what we'll do. Maybe a civil wedding at the courthouse. With my family in GA and his in Missouri and Ghana a religious wedding seems so hard. We're going to have to talk more about that. A wedding often has more to do with your relatives than what you and your fiance actually want. I'm not sure what we're going to do.

Anyone doing two ceremonies? I just thought maybe one at the courthouse for the paperwork and then back to Ghana for a religious one or maybe in GA? Hmmmm? I don't know. His imam is in Accra, his tribal chief has already blessed our union. Jeesh! I wish I didn't start thinking about this. I'm getting a headache! :hehe::o

I now it is a lot of travelling but if I am going to take time off work then I am going to travel. We will have time in between for ourselves. The Virginia and Baltimore trips are weekend trips so we can do that and we would probably go to Seattle for a 3-4 days. But I haven't passed this by him yet  .

It is just so hard to make plans considering the Accra embassy is incompetent. But we are hoping that if he gets his visa in April/May (please God) we will have a wedding ceremony in Ghana in July since my parents and sisters can take time off to be there and then we will have a small get together for my friends when we get here.

I am either going to do one or 2 depending on this whole visa nonsense. Ideally we would have 2, a religious and traditional one in Ghana and then a reception here (just for my friends and that is even if I feel like it). My mom is already going nuts buying stuff so I don't have to worry about that and the way we do it in my part of Ghana it is very simple, easy and hassle free.

All I have to do is show up, literally.

I am not going to be doing the white dress though...just not me.

My dad is a chief and he has already blessed our union so no worries there :P

White dress?!?! No way, not when you can have that beautiful Ghana Lace. I want some type of green based ghana lace. Maybe like a mint green. Maybe I can go down to NYC and see what I find or look for some with one of his sisters the next time I"m in Ghana.

Anyone travelling with their fiance after they get the visa? I was thinking that I might like to travel with him back here to start the rest of our life together. My daughter really wants to so I may buy RT tickets for both of us to escort him home.

I am also gone ware Ghana lace, im from Cotonou but my aunt is from Ghana and my cousin is a very good tailer so she decided to help us with that. We are planing to have a courthouse wedding first and later on the big one so that my whole family can be there. Is anyone going a honey moon trip?

Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.
