Ok guys, some advice needed now please. We booked our wedding for May 31st, 2008, about four/five months ago, when USCIS was doing a good job, and we thought the process would take 3-6 months. It took a while to get a divorce certificate we needed, and we eventually filed for I129F in July, our NOA1 is August 1st. We have paid $1600 for the venue, and planned the date so that the 50 people from the UK can plan their vacation to the USA with plenty of time. I actually planned to have two weddings - one as soon as we had the visa so that I could work in the USA with my green card, and so we could be together as soon as possible, and then the one in May with all my friends and family, and the big cake and dress!!!! Well, a few weeks ago I figured I would just have one - the visa wouldn't come till around february, might as well wait. NOW, I'm worried I won't even have the visa for my May wedding. Gut feelings guys... do you think I'll have it by May 31st? Or will I end up having a big party in May, and then have to return to England for the interview...

Lisa and Marty

First date - 12 January 2005

Engaged - 12 January 2007

Sent I-129F to VSC - 23 July 2007

NOA2 18th January 2008!!! Woohoo!!!

Packet 3 received - Feb 7th 2008

Packet 3 returned - Feb 8th 2008

Medical scheduled - Feb 25th 2008 (I could have had it sooner, but I needed time to chase down my immunisation records).

Interview - March 10th 2008 Approved!!!

Received passport with K1 visa - March 12th 2008

POE JFK - April 12th 2008

May 31st - Got married!

With the way USCIS is operating right now I'm not sure about anything. You coud have the visa in time for your wedding or you may not....who knows? Unfortunately with USCIS you can't make any predictions.

if things continue at their current rates (or improve, obviously) I think you'll be fine, but I think it would be VERY wise to have a back-up plan, even if just for your own peace of mind

The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

Yep, I agree with StillThePrettiest. My gut feeling is that you'll be fine but because this is USCIS we're talking about it's always better to have a back up.

I'm the only one who think that she will be in US for december

Absolutely for real? If you've got that confidence, I'd love it if you'd pass some insight along. Heck, I'd be happy to buy you and your SO dinner on that bet and enjoy it most if I lose.

I was hoping that honey ko and family would be able to join me in US for Christmas. I'm only 2 weeks behind you, but with the level of activity at VSC I'm riding on the "waiting for a miracle" train now. Even if they got here mid-january (off by 3 weeks) it's probably be ok, since my fall back plan is for me to travel there for a Philippine holiday. And it might give me the chance to attend the interview with her.

Either way, I promised her we'd spend the holidays (her b'day is 22nd) together.

Although we filed in July, I mean, we have pretty much always expected her not to be back here till next Spring at the earliest.

Which would be about 9 months since I last saw her or something, since she was here till July 2nd and then left. But whatever.

I obviously want her to be here sooner, but you know, I don't see it happening, so.

I remember when my SO and I started talking about all of this in earnest - around April - and he was all 'so you'll be here by October or November, yeah?'

I hadn't done ANY research on the visa situation at that point, but even then I knew that was unrealistic

he was laughing over that naivete again yesterday

Yes, Bill. This is what I'm talking about; it's shocking, really.

That's why I keep pushing so hard for some action because there are NO guarantees for anyone here.

I mean, I understand that you can't plan a wedding AND you might even end up having your first child, BEFORE USCIS and DOS decide to make it possible for you to be reunited with your SO.....but what really burns me is when they play these little games-->political muscle flexing with little or no regard to the effect that this has on the lives of their customers. Now, they got what they wanted-->GET OUR DAM* PETITIONS PROCESSED!!!!!

The H-1B Visa people were marching in Washington last week. You know where I'm going with this........................
