Hello,

I applied to marriage based Green Card & Adjustment of Status (I-130, I-485 & I-765) on March 25th. I am working under OPT extension (expires March 2021) and at this point all I am looking for is for them to issue my EAD so I can keep on working, otherwise it will be a disaster. My case status is still “received” and my fingerprint fee is received, no other updates after that. My service center is MSC. I’m so nervous that I won’t be able to get my EAD in time. Do I need biometrics before EAD? OPT did not require biometrics so I don’t have a previous one. Can you guys give me a proper timeline when should I expect something to happen? Waiting is killing me and I can’t do anything with my life not knowing what is going to happen in 6-7 months. Thank you.

I very much doubt you will have to wait until March of next year to receive your EAD - that would be a year, and they just do not take that long, or at least have not, historically.  4-6 months has been average, and you're just at 4 months.

Yes, you will need biometrics, but the processing centers for that have reopened.

With COVID, all bets are off, but I would be very surprised if you don't hear something within the next month or two.  I would give it until September and then call if you haven't been notified of anything.

Thank you, I really hope so. I assume late August to have biometrics apt to be scheduled and EAD to be approved by October latest. I’m going through USCIS problems for the last 6-7 years and I literally have no trust when it comes to USCIS. I know it’s still early to worry, but with the furlough and everything I don’t know if they will delay everything again soon.

I get it.  The biometrics locations were closed for awhile, so I'm sure they are slogging through the backup.  Hang in there.

I just called USCIS, Buffalo,NY office opened yesterday and they stared scheduling, hopefully it should not be many people waiting on line considering Buffalo is not a big city

Does biometrics appointment show in case status as an update when you write the receipt number? Or is it just going to be a paper mail?
