So we just got our I-129f package sent in yesterday after a few days of form filling, photocopying and double checking! Seems like such a weight off our shoulders now! Hopefully there wont be any need for an RFE seeing as we covered every base possible!

What do we do next though? I know there will be a long wait, especially going through CSC, but is there anything in the meantime that we can be doing?

Also, we will need her parents to be our co-sponsors as we are both in school and so obviously dont earn enough for the income limits...is there some kind of guide which clears that all up, as it seems like theres quite a lot to do to get the sponsor stuff sorted(and after i thought the I-129f was a lot to do!)

Thanks

And sit back and wait! Congrats on the first step of your journey and good luck on the rest of it!

You can get a few of the forms ready while waiting, but for the rest you have to wait until packet 3 has arrived.

Certian things do have a limited validity, like the police certicicate, depending where you get it from, its valid from 3 months to a year. So you may not want to get it too early.

Since you're in the UK, you can go ahead and order the police certificate now. That typically takes 40 days to get and is good for a year. So, go ahead and get it now so that you can address any issues or anything that might be on it (hopefully, it's clean! ;-) )

Also, your fiance will need a long form birth certificate. So if that's not on hand, it can go ahead and be ordered.

Just my thoughts as it's what I was advised when my fiance and I filed back in May. But yeah, mostly just sit back and wait! That's the hard part! Best of luck!

2007:

February - May: extended visit to States, engagement.

5/4: I-129F sent (Texas Service Center, forwarded to California Service Center)

5/11: Petition received at California Service Center.

5/16: Check cleared. NOA1 online (no hard copy received yet)

6/19: NOA1 hard copy arrived FINALLY

7/16: Sent off for Police Certificate (U.K.)

8/22: TOUCHED due to phone call (RFE Trick, was told case wasn't assigned yet)

9/20:APPROVED!!! After 127 days from NOA1 and 139 days from filing date.

10/23: Spoke to Kelly at NVC who said they should have received our petition by now. She advised I send a copy of our NOA2 directly to the NVC office, which I did immediately. :-)

10/26: NVC RECEIVES CASE!

10/30: NVC SENDS CASE TO LONDON CONSULATE

11/1: Consulate receives case in London AND sends out Packet 3.

11/6: Sent Packet 3 to Consulate (we'd downloaded the forms on VJ and had them completed already)

11/22: Appointment for Medical.

2008:

01/08: Interview scheduled for 10 a.m. APPROVED!!!

02/01/08: Stephen comes to America!!!

Congrats on getting the petition mailed off. Like you, I'm in the same boat, waiting for something to happen now it's been sent off.

Firstly, if you've not done so, make sure your other half has registered for Online Case Status Updates so she'll get emails (in theory) when something happens to the case.

As said, go ahead and get your police certificate, as it's good for a year.

Have a look at what is required for Packet 3, and the check list, and make sure you have everything. Get the other half to sort out the items she needs for the I134, such as pay stubs and a letter from her employer.

Check out your vaccinations, and if you need some get them now. They will most likely be cheaper from a GP than the embassy's approved medical offices in London.

Other than that, you just have to sit around and wait for the USCIS to do something, and as time goes on, it can get a little frustrating!

Good luck.

K-1 Visa Process.
