J1 - > adjustment of status via marriage to US Citizen, i-130, i-485, i-765, i-131 filed concurrently.  PD 4/27/2020. RFE on 5/21/2020, response acknowledged on 6/7/2020, I-693 deficiency notice mailed on 7/10/2020.

The concurrent AOS forms were filed with the A-Number found on a J1 waiver USCIS mailed to me. I received an RFE received and responded. This RFE letter appeared to have a different A-Number on the top right of the letter, below the case number. A then 9 digits (A###-###-###). Afterwards, I received "I-693 Deficiency Notice" that had the same A###-###-### below the MSC case number. Am I to understand this is my new alien registration number that I should expect to use in the future? The I-693 asks for an A-Number, so I wanted confirmation that  1) USCIS changes A-numbers as part of the 485 AOS process and 2) The A##-###-### found on the deficiency notice would indeed be considered an alien registration number. Does anyone know?

Unrelated, but has anyone had to do sputum testing for TB from I-693 following an abnormal chest x-ray?

Hey Octave,

On each process with USCIS, you have differents Alien Number. When you send your AOS package, you will have one A# just to follow up with your case. Once your applications is accepted, they will give you another one - the final - which will follow you until the establishment of your GC.

With that being said, you are going from one status to another. You shouldn't count your J1 A#. If I was you I will leave that part blank because the IO can still find you with your name, address and DOB. It's not that much important.

Good luck
