Is our evidence of bona fide marriage sufficient?

We are almost ready to file our AOS application based on marriage. This is what evidence we have so far:

 

- Bills in both names

- Joint bank account (We got married last month so we will have one statement at the time we file and will bring more to our interview)

- Husband as an authorized user on my credit card

- Shared health insurance through his job

- Shared vision insurance through his job

- Shared dental insurance through his job

- Listed as beneficiary on his life insurance

- Pictures together from the three years that we have been together

- Affidavit from a close friend

- Reciepts for birthday gifts etc

- Mail addressed to both of us at the same address 

- Individual letters explaining our relationship and our three years of history

 

We cannot add submit a lease as we have been unable to add him to my lease due to it being student housing (he is allowed to live here, however).

 

Does this look like it will be enough? Is there anything else we should add to the list?

For the application the marriage certificate is enough. Everything else you would bring to the interview so you're definitely good 😉 but of course you can already add all of this now and just keep collecting till the interview

Oh, I thought you had to provide some when you initially file. But you're right, we'll just submit what we have now and keep collecting until the interview since we'll likely have a lot more by then.

Another question, is it just for the I-485 that we can wait until the interview to submit the evidence? Do we have to submit evidence with the I-130 when we initially file it? We should be good either way but just making sure I am understanding you correctly

Nah USCIS is very well aware that you don't have much when you just got married and one part moved from a foreign country. You two have waaaaay more then most people have at that point 😊

Ah true you probably need something for the I-130 but what you have should be more then fine. Just add copies to each application.

Marriage certificate. Do you have IDs that have the same address?
I wouldn’t add the receipts- that doesn’t show a joint relationship- you Or anyone else could have bought those things for anyone.

Right, we are including that as well and no, they are showing different ones currently as I have been living in off-campus student housing for the past 4 years (F-1 visa) and he has just kept his parents address on his drivers license while he's been living here since we cannot put him on the lease.

 

Would changing the address on my drivers license to his parents address be a good idea? They would have no problem with that and we will probably live there for a few months when my lease ends later this year.

If you aren’t living there don’t change it. It’s not a huge deal if you don’t have matching IDs (you’ve got joint finances which is good) but if you did have it I would send it.

I gotchu. Maybe we can bring matching IDs and a lease to the interview since we will in all likelyhood have a shared lease at that point anyway. I am buying a car next month which will have both of our names on it as well so thats another thing we'll submit.  Hopefully what we have so far will be okay for the initial filing at least.

Not now, but for later, when it comes time to remove conditions on the green card, consider drafting wills, medical powers of attorney, and similar documents.  These make excellent evidence for ROC, and they're even more crucial to have in "life."

Definitely add copies of all your evidence to your initial application. I also filed AOS from F-1 and what you have seems good. We basically had a lease, utilities, bank account, pictures and facebook posts, flight tickets from visiting my family, affidavits from friends, and a cruise booked for the following year. We had no issues at all.

That is great advice. It is something that we will definietly do for ROC and like you said, it is very important since you never know what can happen.
