Out of interest, on ceac after your interview did you check your status? Did it ever change?

CEAC will changed to “issued” once the visa is printed and in your passport. Then the embassy turns it over to the courier to package and deliver to depot or home.

The officer told me my Visa was approved at the interview (on the 20th) but the status on CEAC is “Administrative Processing”, with a statement that it could take weeks. Is this normal?

Thanks

I only know what happens at the embassy in London. You have no profile or timeline or embassy named so I can’t give you a decent answer.

Noted, I will amend my profile soon.

In regards to my scenario, it was at the London Embassy, final interview for the Spousal visa.

Many thanks

At London after the interview it usually says “ready” like it did before the interview. At some point it will switch to AP for a few hours to a day (or two) while they are completing steps and checking security databases. If it is AP a week, then that is the delaying kind of AP.  When it changes to “issued” you are truly approved and the visa is a done deal. Plan on maybe two more days average  after “issued” to get the visa. It can vary but most are received about a week after interview.

Many thanks for your help!

If next it week it remains at AP (which would then be at least 3 working days in this status), would it be recommended for me to call them and clarify with them? (And who would I call, the embassy itself?)

Thanks once again.

The Immigrant Visa Unit won’t talk to you on the phone. And even if you are in AP 6 months, they will not give you a clue why, what they are checking, or how long it will take. Nor will they tell your Congressman.  I wouldn’t even worry about it now. Everybody in London has an AP step which is perfectly normal.  Three business days is nothing really because they have limited staff right now to do all the jobs to get the visa rolled out.

Thank you, that’s reassuring! Hopefully we will get them back within a week too so we can start making our final plans.
I’ve requested to pick it up locally too so will wait to see whether they’ll allow that when it gets there or if it will have to be delivered.... hoping collection as I’m moving out of my flat in just over 2 weeks so it will be cutting it fine if it’s not back by then too!!

You can contact them via their contact tab and chat to an online agent. They're super helpful and quick. You will need to give them your delivery information anyway as they won't have it already if you're meant to be collecting it.

I did check and I don't think it changed.. how about yours?

So this only changes once it has been printed? Because I checked too and I'm pretty sure it hadn't changed after my appointment

No don't worry about it, I had my interview last Thursday (16th) and I received my passport today. That too because I had put a DXs office as my pickup location - and they aren't allowing us to go in. The dx couriers delivered it to me for free and I think they did it soon as they received it. So maybe it's best to have it delivered at home directly from the appointment system.

So you went to pick up,  weren’t allowed to go in to pick up the passport and so they couriered it to you instead?
