Hello all,

I couldnt find if this specifically was answered before, but being that "School starting" is a reason to expedite a visa, does a child listed on K2 with my fiancee's K1 a valid reason if I can enroll them in school in United States and provide documentation?  It's not specifically listing college aged students, but I also wasnt sure if expedited process also pertains to K1/K2's.

The county is Ukraine.  I will try to contact them, but thought I would check here as well.

Thanks in advance!

Is this a valid expedite reason? I have two small children I am sponsoring as well. We already have NOA2, so where could any expedition occur at?

I read this on a US immigration web page.   It just stated "school starting" was a valid reason for requesting an expedited process.  Didnt say had to be college, university, elementary, etc.

It is certainly free to ask but considering that you knew when school was going to start there isn't much weight to it's urgency.  If there is an issue with the caregiver not being able to take care of the kids anymore then that is an avenue to use as a reason

Do you know even complicated pregnancy is not a reason to expedite so school is definitively not a reason.

The BIG DIFFERENCE between college students and grade school students is that college students can not enroll in week 10 of a 15 weeks semester.  Some college programs can only enroll students at the beginning of the program in the Fall and can't enroll them at other times.  Grade school students can enroll at any time.

Furthermore, if grade school students staring the school year was an acceptable reason to expedite then PRACTICALLY EVERY K-2 would be eligible.

OP, is the child's school even going to take place in a classroom?  Where I live, most school districts are not resuming regular school in the fall, and that is the situation in much of the USA.

It would not be a reason but hey, stranger requests have been approved, so it doesn't hurt to try.

My sons school is in a classroom and his old school in GA is also in a classroom so there are many schools out there that still have in school this fall.

And college students PAY money. Us taxpayers are paying for your step child to attend school..
