If I'm going to Sri Lanka, will a 3 week stay just once be enough?

I'd consider staying for several months if it going to be your only meeting.

Cargo ship voyages are another way to go.  Been there, done that!

I second this. Cheap way to travel, and accommodations usually are not too bad. Transatlantic, or transpacific crossings on a cargo ship you better have some free time, because it definitely isn't fast by any means.

Here on a K1? Need married and a Certificate in hand within a few hours? I'm here to help. Come to Vegas and I'll marry you Vegas style!!   Visa Journey members are always FREE for my services. I know the costs involved in this whole game of immigration, and if I can save you some money I will!

Here is an itinerary that skips the US.   She would need a Canadian and English transit visa tho.  https://flights.app.goo.gl/LF72T

While the Covid-19 pandemic is ongoing, you will need to research travel restrictions since US citizens are not welcome travelers in many locations.

Also, cruises are not allowed in US waters until October and that could be pushed back.

Your options to met and marry are really limited right now.

May I ask about your flying phobia? Is it fear of crash? Fear of heights? Fear of falling? I'm just curious.

Second thing, stop using Western Union to send money. You will get bang for your buck if you use Transferwise. Their costs are about 1/4th of Western Union.

Good luck with your plans.

It is a family friend that we have known for 30+ years. In those countries, that's how it works.

Does the family friend happen to have family in the US?

They have relatives in Canada (I believe it is either beneficiary's father's brother's son OR the beneficiary's father's brother). They did have a relative (Father's sister) in Oregon  but they have "retired" in Sri Lanka (although still citizens of US).

Also, the beneficiary does not have a job (I told her to quit back in November 2019) and has never been outside of the country. I have been supporting her family since August 2019.

You wasted time applying for a K-1 when you hadn't met basically the only requirement? Also sending 30k dollars would often times be thought of as a negative for a fiance. No one can say fro sure how the government feels about it. The minimum requirement for K-1 is to be in each others physical presence for at least 1 second in the previous 2 years. The minimum requirement for Cr-1 is to be legally married anywhere on Earth. Neither of those things means you will be approved, but simply that you are eligible to apply. Being approved takes convincing a consular officer that the relationship is real, and I am too afraid to fly to meet my wife is a hard sell in my book.

Even if we do get married in Sri Lanka, they want proof of a "bonafide" marriage. The certificate acknowledged by a sovereign nation like Sri lanka should be more than enough!! So it seems nothing is really guaranteed. It's really ridiculous.

It seems the good honest people are the ones that are always punished.

That is exactly how it is. That is why you see people here be so hard on people the suspect are fraudsters. I try not to judge and just stick to the facts, but a lot of people get very emotional about it.
