I am trying to fill the affidavit of support and I am wondering if I can add his income to the household income. He has been working for more than six months but We have been living together and married for less than six months! Is it okay to add him? Thanks for your help!

Oh I am sorry I will make sure to adjust it! By his I mean the immigrant spouse who I am sponsoring! We are currently trying to file for both a petition for an alien relative and an adjustment of status! So currently I am filing the affidavit of support as his sponsor!

Thank you. You can’t use his income- he can’t sponsor himself- you report your income. If you don’t make enough you can find a joint sponsor who will also complete  the I864 along with supporting documents.

He is legally working, has a SSN, and files taxes! He has his contract renewed till next year! I am not sure if he will keep the same job after the contract ends or that he will move on to a different job with a closer or higher income! Would it be a problem if the job changes while he is waiting for the green card to be processed?
