Hi All,

I received a NOA1 in the mail yesterday for my Wife’s I-130 petition. Priority date of my case is July 09, 2020 and the service center designated is Potomac Service Center. My Visa Type is IR-1 (Spouse of US citizen). Kindly please tell me that how long it will take for my wife to get US visa??

Thank you,

That is a difficult question.  Before Covid-19, the average time from filing the I-130 to interview was 12-16 months.  Now, it will likely be longer.  In addition, cases from Pakistan frequently add extended administrative processing time of several months to many months.......depending on individual cases.   In other words, it will likely be a 18-24 months in my opinion.....good luck.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

**MY OPINION- based on research/stats from this site**

It could probably take longer now.  cases from Pakistan frequently add extended administrative processing time of several months to many months.......depending on individual cases.  I also have heard, Pakistani males are put longer in AP, and many times, Pakistani females are approved right away or take minimum time in AP (1-2 weeks). I am a May 2019 filer for my husband, and we yet have to get our interview letter scheduled date from Embassy/Consulate. We were approved in May 2020 (DQ) In my opinion, after they open again after COVID-19, they'll do interviews already scheduled between March2020-August/time embassies are closed; then it will probably schedule new people's interviews from 2019... so...it can take anywhere from 6-24 month after interview if put in Administrative processing...Many people from 2017-18 are still stuck in AP as of right now, so Allah knows how much more time! I read this on the website.... sadly, it may take 2-3 years... :(
"Except in cases of emergency travel (i.e. serious illnesses, injuries, or deaths in your immediate family), before making inquiries about status of administrative processing, applicants should wait at least 180 days from the date of interview or submission of supplemental documents, whichever is later." (https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/step-10-prepare-for-the-interview/step-12-after-the-interview.html)
I hope everyone can be with their spouses as soon as possible but you never know when the time will come...Good luck with all of us...

Thank you,

Problem is not uscis or nvc because they have specific time so you know that in that time frame your documents approved . The only problem is AP which comes after interview . You dont know how much time it gona take to get visa. May be year or two or more.
I got DQ in May 18 , 2020 and waiting for interview date. Due to covid embassy closed.

Processing time for potomac for usc is 10 to 12.5 months.

The center slowed up terribly from a long time, like this month they barely approved 10.

If continue in this direction consider easily up to a year.
