Traveling close to border with AOS pending?

Me (USC) and my wife live in Minnesota, which is somewhat close to the Canadian border. We filed for AOS from her K1 in February and it’s still pending. I’m hoping to take her up to one of my favorite summer lodges near Grand Portage, MN, which is just a few miles from the Canadian border. It’s beautiful forest up there and incredible shoreline, and it would be a great weekend trip for us, especially after spending so much time bored and cooped up in the city over the last few months. However, I don’t know if going that close to the border is at all “risky” given her status. I won’t risk if there are any dangers. Thoughts?

Have never been to that area but here in Washington state there are no checkpoints other than the actual border cross ping point. Unlike Texas, for example, which has checkpoints some distance away from the actual border.

Her NOA1 is proof of her legal status here.

Do you have the NOA? That’s all you need to show proof of pending status if you get stopped. If not- shouldn’t risk it.

We live in Washington state, and we have family in a town just south of the USA/CAN border.  My husband's AOS interview took over one year to be scheduled.  We just made sure he carried it whenever we were near the land border.  Like @JFH said, there were no checkpoints, but since that could happen, we wanted to be safe.
