Im curious about this rule too. My fiance and I met 1 year before filling the petition but Im sure it will be more than 2 years without meeting  once the interview finally happens. The 2 year requirement also counts for your final interview or is it only for the time you send the petition?

thanks

The 2 year requirement is prior to filing the petition.

That said, more time spent together in person is always a plus for the bona fide relationship side of things. If it's been a very long time since you've seen each other in person when they interview, that would be a consideration (it does not disqualify you in any way).

Yes its been a while without meeting. My fiance was planning to visit me this year but the pandemic happened. So i hope if we cant meet for the time of the interview, they understand the situation.

I’m wondering what post-covid interviews will look like. There’s no way of knowing as I am not a consulate officer, but a worldwide pandemic where people were not able to travel to see each other would certainly change the way I viewed the amount of times people have met in person (as long as at least one in last 2 years of course)

Found love, thought I wanted this path, two years later realized my partner was not worth all the stress 😁

Covid as a roadblock to initial or subsequent meetings is not going to decrease the visa fraud scrutiny at high-fraud/high-risk consulates.  Eligibility to be petitioned for or receive a visa is not going to be changed due to Covid.

I think they will take into consideration the travel irregularities and look more to see that the parties stayed in touch via chat or video.  The 2 year requirement has to do with the USCIS petition and not directly the visa issuance.

I've seen petitions get approved with no visits between filing the petition and issuance with lots of evidence of communication.

A benefit to those that have already filed is that any new potential K1 filers will have to wait to meet - hopefully clearing some backlogs.

If you have done everything, you should upload the RFE (after removing the PII information) so others may assist you. There could be some misunderstanding on what USCIS is asking for and how you understood.

after sending all the document  my case is approved and sent to nearest NVC,

q is can she apply social security card from her home country?

if we want to get married do we need social security number?

I don't believe you can apply for a social security number from outside the country.

You don't need one to marry. You may have to explain why she doesn't have a social security number when getting marriage license (just say that they are a recent immigrant and haven't yet applied for one).

Nope.   It should be the first thing you do when she arrives,, before the wedding.
