That's possible, I wasn't sure whether they included that in the timeline.

When I used to look at the k1 processing times back when I was waiting for that it was for the I129F, so didn't include the interview etc as far as I was aware... so I was assuming the processing time of the n400 was up to the point they invited for interview... but I'm not sure.

I would assume it goes to oath because that is when you 100% officially become a citizen. It's a good question and I wonder if anyone knows for sure.

That's true, I googled a fair bit but I couldn't find the answer. For the k1 they give processing times for the I129F, which as I understand it is the time to NOA2. The interview, medical and visa issue would be additional time.

Since its listed as the processing time for N400 and the USCIS website says

"If USCIS approves your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, we will schedule you to take the Oath of Allegiance at a naturalization ceremony. Taking the oath will complete the process of becoming a U.S. citizen."

That suggests the time doesn't include the oath ceremony, as the N400 (which is what the wait time relates to) is approved at the time of the interview. That would make my time well inside 6 months. The 6-10 are only listed as averages for Raleigh, and my case is probably relatively simple - we're still married, lots of documentation to prove that, I have no criminal convictions, I'm from a low fraud country, we're similar ages and educational levels, etc, etc. I got both the original greencard and the ROC with the interview waived, so I'm guessing they didn't see anything that needed too much investigation in my case.

It is pretty accurate for what it says. But it looks like folk have a hard time understanding what it says.

So again, 6 to 10 months means, in the recent PAST:

- 50% of applicants are done before and up to 6 months. [>>> you seem to be one of these]

- 43% of applicants are done between 6 and 10 months.

- 7% of applications take longer than 10 months.

I Agree, in fact so far my estimated time says case will be completed in 6months, so as you said it is depending on the situation of every applicant.

Hi, I am new here. I am looking to get my US citizenship from Texas.  I have been in the US for 10 years with few trips to Canada of more then 6 months my first few years to help my sick parents. Someone told me you can do the process online and it goes faster but I never heard of this.  I did all my green card stuff by myself. My Green card expires in 2023.

What can I expect as time frame for getting Citizenship? Thank you

Yes Online is really nice. You need an account on myaccount.uscis.gov. For time frame is tough to tell now with this pandemic going on but you can check which field office for your area and then check processing times estimate on https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/

it will tell you the minimum and maximum for this particular field office. Regarding staying abroad over 6 months I’m pretty sure there are so many information and ways to solve this if you look up this website. Good luck

I wish I had an estimated case completion time. I did have one before the pandemic which was July 2020, but while it was removed like everyone else’s,  it never came back. Although it occurs to me now that may be because I’ve  had my interview? I don’t know. I thought case completion was the time to oath, but maybe it’s not.

Well, I think the way it works is that when estimated time is elapsed (gets to zero), it stays there and it doesn't get updated. Instead, it shows something like: "your case takes longer than usual". I think this applies to both cases above.

@Undecided; I think you should call them to check what is going on? Typically there should be an answer sometime after the interview. After 120 days, you have some legal rights to demand an answer (you can read and find out from people in that situation).

I was approved and the website says “your oath will be scheduled “ or words to that effect. And it was less than 2 weeks ago. I was just wondering why I don’t have a estimated completion date - I thought it might give me some insight into how long it’s likely to be until the ceremony. But it is what it is. A lot of this is waiting, sometime impatiently.

I suppose I could take the position that if the original date was July with an interview scheduled in the third week of April, then with a rescheduled interview in the third week of July, my completion is likely to be 3 months later than July at a minimum. Which takes me to October at the earliest. I’ll assume that’s the case and be surprised if it’s earlier and resigned if it’s later.

Oh good then. As you know, they mostly have smaller oath ceremonies these days, often the same day or next day, or frequently every week as opposed to larger ones few times per month as in the past. When you are approved, they normally tell you when the next oath ceremony options are so you can pick. At least this was my understanding. I'd call them to just to be sure.
