I am trying to sponsor my current spouse and I am filling the I-864 Affidavit of support form. I need some clarification for the questions (my total income as reported on my federal tax returns for the most three years) in page 5 part 6 items 24b and 24c. In previous tax years I filed jointly with my previous spouse. The amount listed on the 1040 tax return form shows income for both of us. Should I use this amount? If not what should I insert. Thank you for your help!

You have to use the total gross income.

2017

Just put what you have in total income. If you dont you will more than likely get an RFE. I was asking what year because if it 2019 then theres a section where you list the total gross income and then section where you list just your income. So go ahead and put total income for 2017.

Great! Thank you so much! Do you think I should send the returns along with the application or are the 2019 returns enough?

2019 tax transcripts should be enough. Theres even a section that ask you to check if you have included previous three year tax transcripts. It's just optional.
