“The gunman showed up to Salas’s home in North Brunswick, N.J., wearing an outfit described to police as a FedEx uniform, law enforcement said,” The Washington Post reported. “Both Mark Anderl, 63, a defense attorney and former Essex County assistant prosecutor, and Daniel Anderl, 20, a student at Catholic University in D.C., were shot after one of them opened the door for the gunman around 5 p.m.”

 

Salas was home during the attack but was not injured as she was in the basement, according to a judiciary official who spoke anonymously to the AP.

I know all the early reports are focused on the judge being the target, but who knows.  Former prosecutors and defense attorneys can make enemies as well.  The media also loves to hype the Epstein angle probably as click bait, but we need to wait for the investigation to determine what is relevant.  Regardless, it is very sad that the 20 year old son was the one who lost his life.  Definitely devastating.

Lot of potential motivations here... but sadly most judges end up getting killed by crazy people. I was thinking a mob hit though. Either the person was going for the husband directly, or it was done to send a message to her.

Sounds like he was a 'lawyer', and did not like women. Had argued a few cases before her (mostly nuisance.. and it seems like he did that a lot). They are looking at it from the angle he had a beef with the husband somehow, but also stalking her. I think at this point all we can say is that this is the nut job suspected of doing the killing.  I haven’t seen anything definitively stating it is a known fact yet.
