Mr. President, I Am Starting to Get Scared

by George S. Bardmesser - July 17, 2020

Mr. President, I try to be an optimist.  I try not to contemplate what life with a dementia-addled Joe Biden in the Oval Office would mean for America.  I try to look for silver linings when bad news knocks on my door.  But I have to be honest with you - I'm starting to get worried.  [...]

I saw this thread just as I was going to post a serious question about the upcoming election.   How many American voters make their choice for President based on personality of the candidate rather than policy and platform on which they stand?  My answer is too many.

It's easy for some people to get wrapped up in the media driven personality/popularity contests that POTUS elections have become.  But there is much, much more things at stake this year.  Jessie Waters gave an great overview of where Biden stands.  Biden is no moderate.  He is far left, and his statements prove it.

I don't like everything Trump does.   I think he should stop the Tweets since they reach only a small percentage of Americans.  But, when I think of what Biden would bring to our country, tweets are the least of my concern. Besides, I would rather have a POTUS whose thoughts are transparent vs someone who might not be so genuine in public.

I choose to cast my vote based on principles, policy, and platform.........not personality.

Great points.  I would add that another qualification I am going with is past performance.  Neither is perfect, or perhaps even a GOOD choice.  But one has been in politics for 40 years, and doesn't really have much of a claim to doing good things for America.  One has been in office for just over three years, and has a pretty impressive list of accomplishments that are good for our country.

Agree.  And I see Biden as far left:

Immigration:  He will stop deportations.  Seems like a precursor to open borders to me (as advocated by AOC and others)

Guns:  He would put Beto, AKA "Mr. gun confiscation" in charge of policy.

Energy:  Biden supports the "Green New Deal" which would bankrupt our country.  He has stated he wants to eliminate all use of oil, gas....and those jobs. He would place AOC in charge of policy.

Medicare:  He supports a plan which would give full medical benefits to everyone, including illegal aliens.

Taxes:  He would heavily increase taxes for EVERYONE.

Police:  He has stated that he is in favor of redirecting funds away from law enforcement.

Like I said, Trump's personality is a minor concern in the big picture.....

The media wants to show everyone they mold the public opinion of the high profile politicians, and hence they are treating Biden with kid gloves.  If Biden wins, and the Dems also get the Senate where there is already talk about eliminating the filibuster, we will be on the slippery slope to Marxism.  It may not happen overnight, but it will happen.

As to taxes, the Dems will say they are only taxing the rich, but anyone with half a brain knows the rich have many ways to tie up their wealth, so it will be the middle class that takes the brunt of these Leftist.

Good summary. where Trump messed up on the Wallace interview, when fact checked on Biden defending police which he could not prove he said. He should have pointed out he said Redirect funds. Redirecting funds and defending is kinda the same thing almost.

It is exactly the same thing.  This is one of the sleight of Hand tactics being used, moving traffic to a different department, etc., and then coming out saying look, we cut the police budget by whatever much.  Wallace knew what Biden said, and he knows it is just spin from his camp.

As the article explains, So far, Trump has failed in showing the real differences between a second term for him vs a Biden presidency.  Hopefully, Trump will concentrate on this before the debates start.

I know most of you on the right or slight right disagree with me on Wallace, but he does ask hard questions of most of his interview subjects. Unlike a Hannity on the Right or a Lemon on the left.

Yes Wallace knew the difference, and gave Trump a great big window to explain why it's the same thing, and he didn't . If Wallace had just pointed out why it was the same it would not have been an impartial interview.

It's a lengthy read, and no, I saw nothing in it to "defund the police" per se, but this document makes me ask... if the democrats really want all the things outlined in the text, why haven't they been working to that end for decades?  Why now, when Trump is on office, do they seek to blame all the bad on him, and to overcome it with their "moral correctness"?   How are they going to get hundreds of thousands out of prison?  How has that worked in NY this year?  Or FL?

https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/6983091-Biden-Sanders-Platform.html

Of obvious note is the many references to the failed economy caused by Trump, and how he has ruined the strong Obama economy, and how democrats want to create jobs in these trying times.  (Yanno, the jobs they are preventing from happening with all the closures).

Blacks, Latinos, Native Americans, and women have evidently suffered from covid more than anyone else (I reckon that leaves white men?), and have received less than their fair share of economic relief.

I shouldn't be, but I find myself amazed at the language in this document.

It reads like a Marxist textbook to me.....They could have said it all in one sentence "Everything you ever wanted.....no cost to you".

I don’t disagree that he, Wallace, asks tough questions, but he does seem to have a bit of a bias.  Did he ever ask “she who shall not be mentioned” if she would accept the results of the election during a debate?  All-in-all, CW is a poor man’s Tim Russert.
