That's why I am asking if there's a better way or another way amid of this virus. 😅

Not sure why you are being like this but thank you tho.

That's what we are trying to avoid as well. Pretty much we gonna wait till next year.

No one is being hateful or condescending. They are just telling you how it is. No meeting within two years no visa. No way around it.

As it seems on the response earlier, it sounded like he/she was questioning our relationship. Like asking if I'm sure that I want to be financially responsible for someone I have not meet yet which is out of the topic. 😅

is there any online marriage that is legal that we can use for the spousal visa?

INA 101(a)(35): "The term "spouse", "wife", or "husband" do not include a spouse, wife, or husband by reason of any marriage ceremony where the contracting parties thereto are not physically present in the presence of each other, unless the marriage shall have been consummated." Immigration's definition of "consummated" is being physically present in each other's presence after the proxy marriage occurs; i.e. they don't want to see graphic images as evidence.

The thing is, can we get married here in the US and he goes back to the Philippines then file the CR1?

He'll first need a visitor visa (B-1/B-2). Then, he can do that:

No, he was stating a fact about having met within 2 years of submitting the I-129f.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Financial support of the intending immigrant is a critical part immigration though, so it really is not off topic.  You will want to try to become educated by reading about every step of the process.  It can take years and thousands and thousands of dollars.

I am aware of that as well. We have funds and I have the income that is above the required income to support my fiance. On the process, we are also aware of how many years this might take. This is the main reason why I posted this topic. Since with he current situation and all, if k1 will be just as long as the process of spousal visa, then is it more advisable to get the spousal visa if that's the case.

Any better option or better yet plan B, C, and so forth.

But asking "are you sure" sounds like it's not giving an advise about financial support topic but more of asking if I'm really serious on marrying my fiance.

"Do you really want to spend the rest of your life and be financially responsible for someone you marry on the first meeting? That’s up to you"

thats the exact words. ☺️

Hello Everyone,

With the current situation. And the lockdowns and quarantine, it is harder to meet the requirements specially meeting in person.

My fiance in the Philippines and I (petitioner) here in California haven't met yet in person that is under the 2 years requirements. We video call weekly and message everyday but I know, that doesn't count.

Now, we are planning to meet at Singapore next year around July 2021 but with the covid 19, it is harder for us because of the restrictions of countries and the quarantine time. We all know most of us only have 2 weeks paid vacation.

With that being said, is it better if we just get married than to wait for the K1 Visa

If it is better to get married, is there any online marriage that is legal that we can use for the spousal visa?

Thank you so much!

My genuinely opinion is, the requirement to meet someone under 2 years is not only for USCIS purposes but it is also good for your own sake. Everyone is different in real life and online.

i.e. I can use filter when I face time but I can't use filter when I meet someone in person.

bare in mind it is the matter of being bonded for at least 10 years just in case your marriage didnt work and she decided to stay in USA without job and you will be responsible for her  ( I know I sound negative ).

I would highly recommended to be patience and follow the process. Good things come to those who wait :)

Good luck

Imagine if the "meeting within 2 year" rule was discontinued........Can you imagine petitioning a fiance you have seen only online......then a totally different fiance shows up in the US  via the K-1 visa you sponsored him/her for?

My apologies but I think you see this as I haven't known him and seen him before hand. 😅🤣 I have seen him. I know him since high school. We are already 29 years old right now. He is not just a virtual fiance.

The only thing is that we have not seen each other for the past 2 years. The requirement for the k1 visa. That's the only problem we have.

I understand.  I was referring to @Christy&J statement of why the policy is required (in general)....Your case is quite different. I apologize for any confusion.

So maybe this is or is not helpful but here's how I see it - you say you wasted 13 years not being with each other. I think waiting a few months longer isn't much time in the spectrum of things. And trust me I completely know how bad this whole situation is - it's not easy being away from the person you love (I am going through that too) but once this is all done and over with it will be worth the wait. Be patient with the process, hope for the best. I highly suggest meeting in person for the "within 2 years" requirement. You know how strong your love it - but remember you need to prove that to a stranger (USCIS agent).

Good luck to you whatever you decide.
