Hello Everyone,

With the current situation. And the lockdowns and quarantine, it is harder to meet the requirements specially meeting in person.

My fiance in the Philippines and I (petitioner) here in California haven't met yet in person that is under the 2 years requirements. We video call weekly and message everyday but I know, that doesn't count.

Now, we are planning to meet at Singapore next year around July 2021 but with the covid 19, it is harder for us because of the restrictions of countries and the quarantine time. We all know most of us only have 2 weeks paid vacation.

With that being said, is it better if we just get married than to wait for the K1 Visa

If it is better to get married, is there any online marriage that is legal that we can use for the spousal visa?

Thank you so much!

Get married and file for CR1, then file for K3 to speed up the process. You will avoid a lot of the pitfalls that K1s tend to come across later in the process

Slow down.........Meeting is the first step in the immigration process.......More time actually together is better for several reasons.

That "trick" doesn't work anymore from what I have seen.

The thing is, can we get married here in the US and he goes back to the Philippines then file the CR1? or should we get married in another country? since online marriage will not work on our situation.

Yes, we are taking each of these process step by step. We are just worried because of the current covid situation which delays all the plans that we do have in meeting in person.

You are advising the OP to marry someone he/she hasn't even met yet?

BTW:  That "trick" doesn't work anymore from what I have seen.

Just to make things clear, we are not getting married for the green card stuff. We have wasted 13 years not being on each other's arms and the that's the main reason - Love. Tbh if I don't have issues going back to the Philippines, I would gladly go back there without any hesitations just to see him. ☺️

Technically, it is possible...........but there are practical issues.  On what basis can he enter the US?

Thai is the part that we are exploring. Not sure what we can do about it. We just want to have backup plan as well that doesn't go to a failure.

He doesn't have a visa yet. That's the problem. Like, it might be hard for him to get one since he doesn't have prior travels before.

What's the best thing to do?

And he likely wont get a visiting visa.  Best thing is you go to him or as you have planned in a third country.

I gather you are originally from the PI.  Are you a  USC?

His chances are pretty slim (almost zero, imo) for a tourist visa.  I would go to plan B.....meet and marry outside the US.

Yeah. We figured out that this will be hard if he wants to get here.

We checked SG and we need to stay there for 14 days before we can get married. The thing is we only have 12 days vacation.

As you are discovering, the immigration process requires a great deal of knowledge, planning, time, patience, and money...........I hope it works out for you.
