Wow, a felon, unemployed former wanna-be househusband wants to dictate US open borders? No wonder wife took took off from the multigenerational household and went the VAWA route.

@lysander,

It simply is not feasible. And not just for the US, but for any country in the world. @JFH has the most comprehensive response to that idea. Some people only focus on the positives of the open border idea but do not do enough research on the negatives. And the negatives massively outweighs the positives. Take a look at the numbers and issues with open borders idea*...

  • Over 700 million people in the world live in extreme poverty. That is twice the US population.
  • Over 1.4 billion people in the world lives near poverty levels.
  • Terrorism is an ongoing threat and is growing throughout the world, including developing countries.
  • Infrastructure. Being able to bring over a massive population relies heavily on how can the country sustain house, food, work, and education for that population. Bringing over tens of millions
  • Growth. Every country has economic and population growth that must be accounted for. growth must be gradual so that it does not overwhelm the social structure.
  • Culture clash and assimilation. You bring huge population who may not speak the host country's language and may have a social and education gap to come and find a way will put a huge amount of stress on them and the host country's resources.

If you want a visual representation of how unfeasible mass immigration would be on a country, take a look at Roy Beck's video on Gumballs and immigration:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPjzfGChGlE

There are two sides of this argument; 100% open borders and closed borders for all immigration. As you can see neither one of those ideas are a feasible answer.

@lysander

"The more people a country has, the stronger its economy and therefore its military is. .."

Hardly!

By this logic (or lack thereof), to determine the countries with the strongest economies and military, we merely have to rank them by population.

Go ahead, do that....and see what you get.

Switzerland, as merely one example, does not have a vastly weak economy because it has a relatively small population. Is it an exception? No. Only an exception to "your" rule, because your "rule" makes little sense, and has no basis in objective reality.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economy_of_Switzerland

"The economy of Switzerland is one of the world's most advanced free market economies. The service sector has come to play a significant economic role, particularly the Swiss banking industry and tourism. The economy of Switzerland ranks first in the world in the 2015 Global Innovation Index[22] and third in the 2020 Global Competitiveness Report.[23][24] According to United Nations data for 2016, Switzerland is the third richest landlocked country in the world after Liechtenstein and Luxembourg, and together with the latter and Norway the only three countries in the world with a GDP per capita above US$70,000 that are neither island nations nor ministates.[25]"

I could go on discrediting each of your other crazinesses, but, fortunately, I have more important things to do...

Why this for the profile pic?  Often in movies and on TV when they show Hawaii they show this beach/view. So, instead of doing Kauai or some other locale, we decided to do here, so that whenever some show shows Hawaii and this view, we will see where we were married.

It's in his prior posts - felony was before the divorce - while he was still petitioning.

As libertarian as I am (and some like open borders ideas) this post is not something I could get behind. At first I thought it was a sarcastic joke, but I'm not sure. Seeing something like this is not surprising from the poster's history.

Negative... It is way before it. But he did have a hard time petitioning for his fiancé.
