My fiance and her 2 boys will be arriving in Atlanta on the 26th (Tuesday). I am driving from Dallas to meet them. However in case something unexpected happens to me or the car on the road there I would like to find someone in the Atlanta area who would be willing to fetch them from the airport in the event of a problem. Please contact me if you can help in this way:

Not in the budget to get a hotel room the night before so you are fresh and ready to pick them up? Seems like you are being awefully hard on yourself driving 11 hours then picking them up at the airport..

If you cant find a friend or family member to do this you really might want to think about getting a hotel room, just a suggestion.

I am going to Atlanta for a couple of reasons. ) I want to be there at the point of entry when she arrives. I know there is nothing I can do but it still makes me feel better. It has also been 12 months since we were together and we have agreed that a two day drive home with separate hotel rooms for the boys will give us a little private time before we settle into our home together and begin our life.

As for the help in Atlanta it's not a matter of the drive or the expense. I am just trying to have a contingency plan in case the car breaks down or a snow storm hits. My honey always says I am too much of a boy scout sometimes and I shouldn't plan for everything. But hey thats me. I don't really expect any problems so this is probably just wasted planning.

Even better idea might be to fly out to ATL, then rent a car for the trip back to Dallas. Saves you 11 hours of driving, zero miles on your car. Fly in the night before to be safe.

Dallasguy, two suggestions.

Use a rental car; many of the rental companys will give a replacement in case of breakdown.

Snowstorm? Rather unlikely at this time of year, but you may get heavy rains.

Second suggestion: leave on Saturday (24th) and stay in Atlanta area for the extra two days to rest.
