You’re completely right, I think it’s just my nerves. After nearly two years since first filing and having made critical mistakes early on, I’m almost overly cautious now.

But you have a lot of knowledge and experience in this forum and that’s helped put my mind at ease, so thank you

I can imagine how difficult this pandemic disruption is for you just when you got back on track after almost a year delay due to paperwork error.  A bright side is you can enter the US after your two year wedding anniversary and get the IR1 visa and 10 year greencard. You won’t have to do the removing conditions application and all the waiting for that to go through. You can go straight to a citizenship application when others will be held up on that slow removing conditions step.

The folks at the embassy on interview day are usually quite helpful and want you to succeed.  They won’t be trying to trip you up. Now cross fingers some world disaster doesn’t shut things down again. Everything is so unpredictable and uncertain in 2020.

So far I believe the only ones (in this thread)  released from NVC so they could schedule their own appointment were expedites. Another was a DCF case that started in London and never went to NVC.  You will not schedule your own interview. NVC will assign one and tell you when it is.

Thanks for the response!

We’re about 2 months in since DQ so I know we have a bit more time to wait but I figured it never hurts to ask :)

The key seems to be the embassy in London “opening” so NVC can assign interviews and send  spouse cases over. The staff has been very limited at the embassy and approving a few cases all along, but they are not officially “open for business” in the pre-Covid sense. I think they have approved visas for NATO, military, medical professionals, and some expedites while they have a limited staff working.

Yes, we check the website daily to see if they’ve made any new posts in regards to opening. We were thinking they’d open along the same time that the gyms began to reopen but so far nothing. We’re patient (no other option really) but obviously the sooner the better.

There's a new update on the embassy website:

Quote

UPDATE: As of July 27, 2020, the United States Embassy in London and as of August 3, 2020 the United States Consulate General in Belfast are resuming certain immigrant and nonimmigrant visa services, including: immigrant visas for spouses and children of U.S. citizens; F-1 and M-1 student visa categories.

https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/

Given that they're calling it "resuming visa services" rather than focussing on "mission critical" hopefully that means NVC can schedule as well.

Wow! I’m really happy for them, but I’d be lying if I said I’m not peeved that my husband and I had to waste 10 months on the I824

We must’ve spoken to a dozen people on the phone at USCIS, all giving a different message. Eventually we got congress involved and USCIS said in their official reply that we needed the I824

Just goes to show that they really are just making it up as they go along, and it depends what day you catch them on.

Our CR1/ IR1 Journey:

USCIS Stage:

  • September 14 2018: I-130 NOA1 (TSC)
  • March 19 2019: I-130 NOA2 (186 days)
  • April 26 2019: I-824 NOA1 (NBC) (Change from AOS to Consular - mistake on I-130 😭)
  • January 24 2020: I-824 NOA2 (273 days)
  • Feb 5 2020: Approved I-130 Sent to NVC (12 days after I-824 NOA2)

NVC Stage:

  • February 12 2020: Case Received @ NVC (7 days after being sent)
  • February 16 2020: Expedite Request Sent - Financial Hardship
  • March 7 2020: Case Number Created (23 days after NVC receipt)
  • March 7 2020: IV & AOS Fees Paid (Showed as PAID after 4 days)
  • March 13 2020: IV & AOS Docs Submitted
  • March 30 2020: Expedite Request Approved - Conditional (once Embassies resume normal services - COVID19)
  • May 04 2020: Documentarily Qualified
  • July 16 2020: Expedite Request Approved - Unconditional!!
  • July 31 2020: Medical Done
  • August 6 2020: Interview - APPROVED!
  • August 13 2020: CEAC Status - Issued! 😁

Exactly my thoughts. I am peeved for you. Time, the money...damn shame.

I can confirm that I was able to schedule an interview at the embassy (which I had on the 20th) on the CEAC website, without an expedite. I had an interview scheduled before Covid lockdown which was cancelled, but it meant I had access to the booking website website. Nothing prevented me from going in and booking an interview.

Hope that helps!

Hi all,

being 2 years on from the original post… can I ask if y’all were able to book an interview appointment at London for IR1 visa

we had our expedite at NVC approved last week and we have been showing as ‘ready’ since Monday.
Do we schedule our own interview or wait for a letter ??

thanks :)

Good evening

My process has already been reviewed, everything appears to have been accepted, but they asked again to see the sponsor's W2, what they asked for has already been submitted again, my question is: does anyone know how long it takes for them to review a document they requested?

We requested an expedite at NVC and were approved the next day (super fast - emergency circumstances). I was lucky on the medical appointment times but not so much for booking my interview - that was a month and a half later. But trying to reschedule at 1am found an appointment slot a week after my medical appointment so I took that one. I did request an expedite at the consulate but didn't need it since I managed to make it sooner myself.

Visa status changed to issued on Friday. My interview was Wednesday.
