Hello all!

Today my husband and I emailed re expediting our case which currently on hold at the NVC (he needs surgery and I need to be there to look after him!!)

We only sent it off today. It is to my understanding London embassy is now accepting expedited cases? I wondered if anyone could shed some light on how long it takes to get approved after emailing and then how long they waited until the interview?

Thank you. My heart goes out to you all... everyday is a step closer!

It took a couple of days for NVC to acknowledge the expedite request and then it was another few days to hear that London had accepted it. So around a week in total, it was then sent to a London same day and showed as “Ready” the next day.

Hopefully you’ll hear some good news by early next week 🤞🏻

You can only expedite at NVC stage, at embassies/ consulates it depends on them to deem your request as emergency for an interview.

Good luck.

I had my expedite approved on Wednesday (the email randomly came through at about 4am), on the NVC page it now says my case is at London, does anyone know if London book the interview for me or I book it myself?  I assume I need to wait for an email from London?

LONDON does not book interviews. You would book your own as do the K1 fiancés and the spouse’s doing the DCF process.

Do you have your LNDxxxxxxx  case number assigned by NVC?

Your timeline is incomplete so did you process anything at NVC yet? What has already been done toward the visa? Ds-260? Got police certificate?

It depends on where you are to know what to do next and in what order.

So you need to schedule your medical appointment. You will need things to take to it so best to read it from the source. Read all the green colored topics.  Note it says on the “what to bring” page you need an appointment letter from the embassy. That’s a bit dated since interviews started being booked online. Bring your notification from NVC that contains your LND number or if you happen to get a letter from the embassy (don’t hold your breath) with the LND case number.
Clinic website
http://www.visamedicals.co.uk/us-bring.htm

You are a bit of a hybrid mix so there aren’t any clearly laid out instructions on this page

https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/family-immigration/how-to-apply-2/

You’re not DCF that went through USCIS in London. Similar, but you’ve already turned in DS-260 and your documents, while DCF haven’t. You did process at NVC, but you didn’t get assigned an interview, so you can’t register your appointment, you have to select an appointment. Theoretically if your case made it to London, the booking site should let you in. If it doesn’t, try the next day. Sometimes it’s just too early and it will say your number is invalid. It isn’t invalid. Try next day and next.

Try this step:

Schedule your visa interview through the Visa Appointment Service website at https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-gb/iv and follow these instructions:

  • Select “I have received a letter from the consular section with instructions to schedule an immigrant visa appointment”; (Note: even if you haven’t gotten the letter pick that)
  • Follow the onscreen instructions to register an account;
    • A separate account is needed for each separate case number. If your family members are applying under your case number, you may “add” applicants to your account after you have added your own details.
  • You will be asked to select your delivery method for the return of your passport if your visa application is successful. Delivery to a courier depot is free. If you wish to upgrade to home/office delivery you can pay an additional fee through your account;
  • You will be offered the first available interview date, but you may choose any available date;
  • Please go to “Print Instructions” in order to print your courier confirmation page. You must bring this with you on the day of the visa interview

Things to know based on experiences—

You don’t have to be finished with you medical appointment before you pick your interview date. Do leave at least a week between medical and interview if you want the results at the embassy on your interview date. That is not absolutely necessary either, but it allows you to be approved at the interview instead of them having to wait on your medical and get back around to your visa.

You don’t have to have a letter from the embassy.  Not needed for anything. You don’t show it anywhere except maybe the medical appointment, but if you have your LND  number in writing sent by NVC correspondence, then you’re good to go at the clinic without an embassy letter.

Many thanks for the detailed response Wuozopo

I just combined knowledge of what has worked for normal K1s, DCFs, and NVC spouses to fit your unique situation. If you don’t have any luck getting in the booking website after a few days, then you’ll have to contact the embassy by email  and who knows how long it will take for the to reply or if they will just tell you to get your expedite from NVC. (Like they didn’t read what you asked). . If you do get in, then you have saved some time and frustration.  I just don’t know if your case arrival triggers you to be set up in the system since you are not a normal case.

Check your status on CEAC and when it says “ready”, that should mean you are set up to book an appointment. I know there has been an occasional lag of a day before the system recognizes you. Others seem to get in immediately. No harm in trying it.

So I registered.

Which of the following is the right option next?

- I need to register for an immigrant visa appt

- I have received a letter/email from the consular section with instructions to schedule an immigrant visa appt.

- I have received a letter/email from the consular section with instructions to register or schedule a K(Fiance/Spouse/Child) visa appt.

(the last option is definite not it as it was for returning resident)

I need to get home first for my passport number etc.

Just to clarify if I do manage to register before it says ready on the NVC site then that OK right? I don't want to register and mess it up somehow..

I need to register for an immigrant visa appt  That would ask when your appointment is. You don’t have one.

I have received a letter/email from the consular section with instructions to schedule an immigrant visa appt.

I have received a letter/email from the consular section with instructions to register or schedule a K(Fiance/Spouse/Child) visa appt. You aren’t a fiancé.

it won’t mess up anything. If it lets you make an appointment, you’re in!!
But don’t forget to find out when you can get a medical appointment.
