That's a shame because there is another member from this forum (different thread) who was told that her interview was in fact a legal reason to attend and was granted a permit and entered NSW last week. Upon entry they also determined her reason (interview) was valid. That's a shame if that has changed.

I was told by three separate people a visa interview was not a valid reason to enter.

So, does anyone know, how long does the embassy hold on to a visa case if you don't make an appointment? They won't answer me.

Ok... glad I’m not the only one who isn’t getting a response out of them. Been a week since I heard from them last...

That is disappointing that that has changed now I guess.

Above is the thread I was referring to. I am wondering if it all changed after what happened in that article (someone from VIC breached quarantine requirements when going for interview in NSW and it was then said that applying for visa was not a valid reason).

You will absolutely not get a permit. NSW does not class a visa interview as a legal matter, so you won't get one. I was told in explicit terms on the phone that I absolutely will not get a permit for my appointment.

I was told otherwise and I was allowed to enter. I was checked off by NSW health and NSW police when I arrived in NSW from Melbourne. Not sure if that’s because we were stage 3 and now we are in stage 4.

I had significant supporting documentation too.

Just got DQ'd today -next step interview scheduling so keen to hear how guys go. I live in Sydney which makes it a bit easier (from a Covid travel-restricted perspective) but I'm still quite pessimistic regarding timing and fully anticipating a major backlog that they'll schedule before getting around to me! Haven't heard of anyone DQ'd and scheduled other that end of Nov interview date someone shared! 😕

12th Mar 2019 -> I-130 Submited

1st Apr 2019 -> NOA1

16th Mar 2020 -> I-130 Approved!

12th May 2020 -> Case Received by NVC

1st June 2020 -> Paid AOS and IV fee via CEAC

1st July 2020 -> DS-261 and AOS submitted via CEAC

12th Aug 2020 -> Case Complete (Documentarily Qualified)

18th Aug 2020 -> Expedite Request Sent to NVC

11th Sept 2020 -> Expedite Request Approved

21st Sept 2020 -> Case received at Consulate

29th Sept 2020 -> Interview Appointment Email Received

1st Oct 2020 -> Medical completed in Sydney

6th Oct 2020 -> Interiew (Verbally confirmed as approved subject to receipt of medical)

We've been waiting to be scheduled since early March, so unfortunately it's going to be quite a back log, I'm afraid :(  I suspect they will be under-staffed as well.

Most CR/IR applicants who request the paperwork to be expedited to NVCexpedite@state.gov seem to get a pretty good outcome.  K-1's are few and far between.

Hey everyone how do you actually book an interview (I know there currently not conducting them, just want to know for when the time comes) I’ve got the noa2 and  nvc case number (case is sitting at the nvc) and I’ve paid my interview fee and completed my ds 160 (I feel like I’ve jumped the gun here though) is there anything else I need to do or anyone I need to contact?

@Entheos any word back from the consulate yet for an interview? Am considering requesting to expedite on our case too and wondering about the timeline from reaching the consulate. All the best!

Currently in wait mode...been a bit of back and forth.  I know they have the paperwork... but should know more very soon hopefully!!!

Under normal circumstances the paperwork would have shipped out to the consulate within a couple of weeks of your case number being created.  Obviously that’s not happening as normal...depending on your situation you MAY qualify for an expedite...however that will require a back and forth between he NVC and the Consulate a couple of times to get your case heard... and it’ll need to be a fairly valid reason unfortunately due to how it’s being processed at the moment.

You’ve got your DS-160 and MRV done, so I would get the I134 and supporting docs underway if you haven’t already.  Maybe get them signed and dated closer to your appointment.  What happens is that The consulate will email you/your fiancé(e) once they receive your packet from the NVC.  If you haven’t already, update your email addresses with the NVC so that once it ships you both get the email, and once it arrives YOU get the email.... then you’ll send them back your DS-160 and MRV conformations numbers, plus case number, name and email and they will reply to you with an appointment date/time.

Hope that helps.  Reach out if you need! :)

@Entheos Thank you very much for the reply, was a great help! I've just started over thinking about the process and was sure I was missing something haha. But I'm all on track on my end until the embassy reopens, my fianceé is currently working on the I134, updated letter of intent and hopefully mailing out in the coming weeks.
If you don't mind me asking what grounds did have you attempted your expedition on?
