Yes, I spoke to someone and their interview was re-booked for the end of November, that was the earliest they could get. Just wanting to get a grasp of how delayed everything will be and if there's even a slither of chance that I would be able to get an interview for this year once my NOA2 is approved. Also had another person say that they got the notification that their paperwork was being sent to the Syd embassy, things are moving 🙂

Hi, I just emailed ustraveldocs and this was their response:

Thank you for your email.

We have yet to commence K1 visa interview scheduling. Once we do, our office will contact you.

Thank you,

Immigrant Visa Unit (cc)
U.S. Consulate General, Sydney

Can I ask who the person e-mailed to book the interview?

My case status has been ready since March.

We filed in November and are now waiting for my interview. Last update on CEAC was July 9th saying that my case is "ready for my interview when scheduled"

It would be great to even have  a proposed commencement date for interviews. We've been apart since October 😓

Have you paid the MRV fee?

Question: Does anyone know if my appointment can be used as grounds to travel from Vic to NSW? Consulate is asking me whether I can schedule or attend due to COVID restrictions.

That's a tough one, maybe reach out to your local MP?

Have you applied for a border permit yet?

My first point of call would be apply for it.  Do you have a date for your interview yet?  If you do I would get an application in and follow it up immediately.

Did you have any luck getting a border permit since posting this?

Oh really?! Can I ask what responses you've had from your attempts? As a Victorian who wants to try for an expedited interview I am curious (and also very stressed) about the VIC/NSW border situation.

You will absolutely not get a permit. NSW does not class a visa interview as a legal matter, so you won't get one. I was told in explicit terms on the phone that I absolutely will not get a permit for my appointment.

So, does anyone know, how long does the embassy hold on to a visa case if you don't make an appointment? They won't answer me.

That's a shame because there is another member from this forum (different thread) who was told that her interview was in fact a legal reason to attend and was granted a permit and entered NSW last week. Upon entry they also determined her reason (interview) was valid. That's a shame if that has changed.
