Some 50,000 green cards and 75,000 other employment authorization documents promised to immigrants haven’t been printed, USCIS said in a statement. The agency said it had planned to escalate printing but that it “cannot speculate on future projections of processing times.” In the event of furloughs — which the agency has threatened if it does not get a $1.2 billion loan from Congress — “all agency operations will be affected.”

It's getting so challenging to get my fiance to America legally, I won't lie, there are times I think about ways I can get him here illegally....

Yes, people still have status but that doesn’t mean this delay isn’t affecting anyone. Just makes things more difficult to get a job, renew a driver’s license/ID, etc.

You fail to mention that USCIS started losing considerable money under this administration, the deficit was minimal until 2016.

In part because of poor management,  also because part of the funds were taken out from USCIS to fund ICE or DHS. Also immigration officials were assigned other duties fighting illegal immigration instead of assisting with legal immigration. Delays from USCIS did not start this year. They should really stop blaming "Covid and less petitions" for this disaster

Ok and? They were still running a deficit even before this administration. Not to mention you make it sound like going after illegal immigration is a bad thing when it isn't

All I said is that ignorant people are buying the whole "Covid this this" story when in reality it's inefficient management and defunding USCIS for years.

Also, I never said going after illegal immigration was a bad thing, please read before posting. Thanks!

Completely misleading headline.  Not getting a card doesn’t make anyone undocumented/illegal.

Do you have a source for your claim that USCIS fees are being redirected to ICE?   I have never heard this.

You realize that IO pay has skyrocketed up to a starting wage of over 100k/year due to 10 years of raises to all federal workers.  Other government “departments” just charge our national credit card that your kids will pay buck but USCIS is self funded so needs to raise fees.
