Assuming she can get a visa and be allowed in AND as long as she departs to go back to interview and complete the consulate process

It is going to be a lot harder being from Pakistan- but yeah, it doesn't matter where in the world you are when you file the I-130. There is no way she is getting a 1-2 year visitor visa though ; so don't think she will be staying here the entire processing time.

She needs an immigrant visa which she gets visa filing the I 130.

She can use or obtain a valid visa and use that to enter the US for that visa's intended purpose. This can be done before or mid-processing of of the I-130 or visa.

 

She cannot, for example, use a tourist visa to come to the US and stay. She cannot even live in the US on a tourist visa...not only is the duration of stay way too short to wait out the process, but if CBP believes she is going to use a tourist visa to live in the US instead of visit, they will deny her entry.

She can make short visits, but she cannot stay.......if she can get a tourist visa.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

September 10, 2011: Emailed AOS package
September 12, 2011: IV bill invoiced
September 13, 2011: Paid IV bill (payment portal showed PAID on September 14, 2011)

October 3, 2011: Emailed checklist response (checklist generated due to typo on Form DS-230)

December 18, 2023:  Filed I-90 to renew Green Card

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal
