He is not going to be able to hide it. They WILL check his travel background. It is routine security checks. For example, people who have visited or lived in countries with known terrorist activities are heavily scrutinized by immigration. Background checks for travel history and places of residents is one of the main things immigration reviews, even if the person does not disclose it. And things get worse if they don't disclose it. And as stated already, if he is living and working in Russia, he will need a police clearance to move forward with this process.

oh ok he can get his police records that wouldn't be a problem. thank you.

Why have you changed the story? The title of this thread and the first line of your first post both say that he lives in Russia. You wrote that. Why are you now saying he only spends the winter in Russia?

omg I am not changing anything for crying out loud. He is living there right now. he is been there since february-2020. February is winter and he got stuck there bcz of the covid-19 thats why now that is summer he hasn't been able to come back to live in his country tunisia.

You are getting angry at people for something they did not know. Seriously, you didn't tell anyone this part and you keep adding to your story.

The best thing to do is start from the very beginning and tell the entirety of the story instead of leaving it for people to guess. You're not going to get correct or complete answers to your questions unless we know everything.

Why ?

First of all, nothing needs notarization.   Secondly,  there is no issue with him living part time in Tunisia and part time in Russia.   You don't need to explain anything

YMMV

Where does he want to have his interview? If he has a visa (other than tourist) for Russia, he can choose either country. But if NVC sends the documents to the country he doesn't want to interview in, it will take a few months for the documents to to transfer. You might have to be calling NVC to make sure the papers are sent to the right place.

Hello everyone. My fiancee is from Tunisia but he is currently lives in Russia because he is there for working only. He is divorced and has a son who was born in Russia. He got a Russian passport through his X-wife, therefore he is in Russia for two things 1. to work and 2 to support his child. In 2019 he flew several times to Russia and flew several time sto Tunisia. He also went to Turkey one time. Can someone tell me what are our chances of getting our K1 visa file approved or denied if my fiancée doesn’t do a letter of explanation,,, explaining why he is living in Russia now and he traveled back and forth.? Please can someone tell me our chances of getting approved or denied.? And also if the process will take longer than the time expected.? Thank you everyone for your time.

I don't think they will care about that stuff. Are you also filing a K2 for his kid? Processing times are definitely taking longer, due to COVID. Chances of approval/denial are same as everyone else: so long as you don't have a crazy criminal history and a history of problems with the US, you should be fine.

The I-129f is primary about you the sponsor. At interview stage it will become about the beneficiary and they might ask him about why he's living in Russia but he can answer that if asked and if not he doesn't need to tell. No need to send a letter explaining everything. Many people life in a different country than where they're born in and interview there.

This same exact story and question has been posted before in the forum. Or am I having a dejavu?

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

Good morning everybody my name is (removed) I finally finished today the file for my fiancee (removed).. Since i don't have to present a letter of explanation as of why my fiancee is in Russia, then I think our file is ready to be in the mail on September next week. My fiancee has a child in russia but he is not planning to bring his kid to America. His kid is staying in Russia with his Ex-Wife. It will be only my fiancee and me We are both very exited that we are finally done  with the paperwork and ready to start our journey and future together. Does anybody have any idea of how long it takes to get the First letter saying the file has been received and also how long it takes to get the NOAletter saying that the visa for my Fiancee is in process.? thank you so very much every one for ur answers and for helping us both to make our dream of being together come true and sorry for asking so many questions. Thank you again. :)

I don't think you need to explain why your fiance is in Russia. Will he apply for his visa at a US embassy in Russia?

You can find info about the processing times at

Good luck!
