Esalaam/Hello/Salut

With everything else in Algeria,(my husband's country_ the visa process has to be complicated as well. As if INS didnt make things hard enough ....Well as everyone knows in I have been and lived in Algeria. And even brought my daughter, last year without any complications.

Well right now, I am out of Algeria, applied (again) for the visa for my daughter and I. I sent it in as usual, with the application filled out in my name (adding my daughter in the slot where it says children traveling with you, as per the instructions the visa officer gave me on our last visa) Sent in the fee for both of us , 2 fotos each,my daughter's Birth cert, and our passports. Uuuuuunforunately, the application was send back, without any reasoning only a note that said "imcomplete". For the 3rd day straight, I have tried to call them to find what is is exactly incorrect, but no one seems to answer the visa sector fon line. I cannot understand what I did wrong, and wwwhy it is incorrect now, when last time when I traveled with my daughter there was no problem. Algerian bureaucracy is just making me ill. (and that is not morning sickness  ) I am beginning to think these people are avoiding, since I know they know me. I have talked to them several times and processed visas throu them also, several times. Ufff is all I can say right now. Getting married in Algeria was tuff enough I thought, then I applied for residency, the tried to apply for an offical documented chahada (also another made-up requirement for residency (told to me by some knit-wit in Kolea daira(our town) as per the requirement for residency ...ye right I came with the law texts which, I may add had NOTHING like this in it...only went to apply for this, so I can make Omra/Hajj one day enchallah)... and now this... I cannot understand WHY Algerians are soooo inconsistent ... Ufff can any tell me what did wrong. Can I make several mad faces here?!

We haven't had as much trouble with the Moroccan Consulate, but I know we've rarely been able to get anyone by actual phone there. I can't imagine how frustrating it is being there and dealing with this #######. I wonder if some of the other African Consulates are this way?

I hate if for you.

Henia,

Did you send in a letter of hebergement? I know they request one. They say it has to be stamped by city hall in the town your husband lives in (they love their stamps, don't they?), but I have never done that. Just an original i.e. no fax or copy, letter saying he owns the apartment and is inviting you both to stay there.

It was now over a year and a half ago, but at the time Mounir was in charge of visas at the Algerian Embassy and he usually was reachable by phone.

Henia -remember last night i was talking to you about all the troubles i had with the embassy up in ottawa here when i wanted to go at the time my husband had been injured -HE SAID TO ME I NEED A HERBERGMENT LETTER no matter what!! -remember -i told him how can i get one if my husband is injured!!! but they wouldnt take no for an answer!

IN CANADA -the embassy also requires 3 PHOTOS per person for the visa -could that be the problem too???
