Dear all,

I am posting here because I need advice on direction. I have my interview scheduled for August 4th. As I am flying in from overseas just to be able to go to the interview, I am facing considerable costs. Especially because I need to fly over 14 days prior to quarantine. My worst fear or concern is that I am flying over in the middle of the school term over here, sit in my hotel room only to find out that my interview is cancelled a few days prior to August 4th and that I would only find out while already in the US. My interview would be in Washington DC.

Is USCIS considering those rare cases of 319 (b) filers and their specific circumstances of flying in from the other end of the world? Or will I find out, lets say, August 1st while almost done with my quarantine? I have tried to reach out but I didn't get any answer.

What would you guys do if you were in my shoes? At the same time, I feel really bad asking USCIS employees again because of their own worries and concerns during these tough days. I am pretty sure that furlough is looming heavily over their head.

Please fill our your timeline/profile, it currently says IR1/CR1 but based on the forum where you posted I assume you're referring to your citizenship interview?

I would probably travel. As a USC you can live abroad without risking to lose your status in the US. I'm a bit confused by the above - do you live abroad? Do you fulfill the residency requirements for citizenship if you live and study abroad?

Keep in mind that after a successful citizenship interview you'll possibly also wait for the oath ceremony, where they will collect your greencard. After the oath, you can apply for the US passport and probably don't want to travel before you have it in hand?

I filed from overseas under §319 (b) which requires to fly over to the US for the interview. Oath should be on the same day or day after. I am just very concerned that I may end up doing my 14 days quarantine only to come find out that my interview will be cancelled. But I agree with you on the importance of the interview date. I just wish I had some level of security that this interview is actually going to happen.

I am also having a combo interview. (I-751 and N-400 together)

And I filled out the timeline a litte more.

No one has a level of security your interview is going to happen; not even the workers doing the interview (as you know). I would come back to the US and stay. Most people would love to be in your shoes; have a date scheduled for the interview.

What do you feel is the downside if you reschedule the interview?

Can I just reschedule like that? And when I initially asked, I wasn't exactly offered an option but I could have rescheduled for later in August or September. Which may be the two months that could still be affected.

I am aware I sound unappreciative. I am not. I feel blessed and grateful!

Instructions to reschedule are on the interview notice.

Do you have any experience with how long it takes to reschedule?

No, at this point nobody could accurately tell you.  Could be a few weeks to a few months.

Especially because I need to fly over 14 days prior to quarantine.

There's isn't a federal law that requires quarantine. It's just recommendedhttps://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/from-other-countries.html

California doesn't have a quarantine rule. Some other states do: https://www.usatoday.com/story/travel/destinations/2020/05/25/coronavirus-travel-restrictions-us-states-quarantine-requirements/5256975002/

I am having mine in Washington DC and the invitation letter asked for a 14 day quarantine (well it actually said I should be in the US 14 days prior to interview).
