My wife and I just got our I 130 approved earlier June 6th, little did we know, we had to send a 1824 after we got our approval letter, thus telling the USCIS to forward our approval to NVC. Anyway we didnt put a SSN number down in the area that asks for it in the I130 for my wife. She said she didnt think she had one, but it turns out that she had one from a long time ago when she worked in this country like 15 years ago. My wife no longer has the card but says she remembers the number, and found it on some old paperwork. She believed that it expired because she got it long ago when she was a student. However I called the SSN and got confirmation that SSN do not expire.

I know that the upcoming documents will ask if she every applied for a SSN and if she would like a new one. I guess we were just concerned that if we put it down on the upcoming paperwork it might cause some confusion because it wasnt listed on the previous I130. Does anyone have any suggestions or relevant experirence with anythign like this?

SSN never expires, once issued a person has it for life.

When your wife enters the country, wait 2 weeks, then visit SSA and get the card replaced.
