That should be sufficient for the I-130 however when you get to the NVC stage, they will probably also require the NADRA certificate. They did for my in-laws.

NADRA marriage certificates are not required for old marriages.  One of my friends just petitioned for a parent, who was married in the 1980s, and they only submitted the nikah nama and english translation.  The person got the visa in 2020.  No issues, no RFEs.

Well, apparently the NVC employee we got plays by their own rules! We submitted all docs in February 2020 and in late April they stated they needed the NADRA certificate as well. The specific instructions said to delete the Nikah Nama and translation and resubmit with the NADRA cert included. This was for a marriage from 1970. And that was the only thing requested! If it hadn't been for that, we would have had a DQ. :(

Hmm.  It may have to do with the fact that you started the NVC process (sometime in 2020) after the requirement for NADRA marriage certificates was added.  It was added in late 2019, so I guess my friend was not asked for this since they were already in the NVC process.  This is the first I am hearing of this, so I guess things are changing.  Thanks for the update.

If filing I-130 for parents in Pakistan, is a NADRA Marriage Certificate necessary?

Marriage took place in the early 90's.

Have original Nikkah Nama with english translation.

Would appreciate advice.

@bulls2030 hi any update, going to start the process soon for my inlaws wondering if I need a lawyer or its straight forward to do on my own?
