And i just dont know what to do now. I dont know if this is alittle normal or something. Can anyone help me with my problem??

No Offense...but given he/she is coming from Iraq, I think we can all imagine why such a delay in getting security clearance....just have to be realistic and even more patient. Good Luck!

Sorry to hear this is taking so long.

my thoughts to you would be to contact the embassy and department of state to find out if there is any assistance you can provide. You can contact your local congress member or senator to see if they can help expidite, but I think unless you have connections high in the Department of State (for example, if you know Condoleezza Rice, all the consular officials work for her, so you can get them to expedite your case) you will be stuck waiting.

There are a bunch of VJ members in a similar status, and perhaps they may have more pertinent information for you.

Sounds like you've been plenty patient - 9 months AFTER going through the rest of the time-consuming process is awful!

I think the idea to contact your congressman/woman or senator may be a good one. Have you tried that route yet? They may not be able to do much, but it's worth a phone call.

To find out where to call, go to www.house.gov and enter the zip code of the USC's home. Go to that member's webpage and look up the phone number for the district office (that will be the on in your homestate, not the one in Washington DC). Call the office and ask to speak to the staffer who handles immigration case work. Have all your case numbers and relevant information handy - explain your situation and see if they can do anything. If nothing comes of that, then try your senator (each state has two, find them at www.senate.gov). Usually, starting with the congressperson can be more helpful because they represent fewer people, though that's not always the case.

Best of luck and I'm sorry for your long wait - no one should have to deal with that after navigating the whole process the right way for so long.

Now would be a good time to use the State Department phone number that Daisy has used in the past. She knows the number - I don't - if she doesn't come back to the thread PM her for it.

There are (I believe) at least four types of security clearances your fiance may be processing through. Someone on that number may be able to tell which if any of those are completed and which still remain.

For better info than what I've got, you might PM the member lal_brandow, who experienced this and learned how to pull a few strings along the way.

US number: 1-202-663-1225 (press "1" then "0" to get a live body).

I think the OP tried to call the State Dept - or the Embassy directly.

I don't know that the US DOS line above will do much to help since they just read what's in the Embassy computer system, but it is certainly worth a shot. If they have no new information, I would still recommend giving an elected official a jingle.

I'm not sure either Daisy but I do know some of ME gals use the number because they posted about it in the thread wherein you and I discussed the number.

And...I don't know if this was the number lal used to get her 'results'.

The DOS line & State Dept are the same thing, and have information for much of the processes in the journey, just for clarification. I have always called (202) 663-1225 then push 1, 0, 4, 3, 0. But I have not had to call for awhile, so it may be different now. I am sure the pushing 1, and 0 is fine as well since I have seen others use the same.

Hstark24 - I am sorry you are having a long time of it. This is an extremely grueling part of the process, I completely sympathize. Have you been able to uncover the amount of checks ordered on your case? Has the DOS ever told you any cleared?

Just a lil graphic on how the process works.
