Met my fiancé in college as we had the same major but didn’t start talking until 2 years later because we were sticking to our friend groups. But then we took few classes where we only knew each other :) we’ve been together 4 years, 2 of which have been long distance... now with the COVID-19 delays and all, he regrets not proposing sooner and doing an AOS while I was still in the states :D

I met my husband at a family BBQ almost 7 years ago now. We became friends and then dated every summer or on holidays like thanksgiving that I came over to Washington to visit my U.S family (who were hosting the BBQ!)

We started dated, visited each other every 3-4 months for 4-6 weeks at a time (I had a very flexible job) then we got engaged in January of 2019 and got married early December 2019 after I moved here on a K1 visa

We are now in the greencard process which has been delayed a lot because of COVID. I had a interview scheduled for April but it was cancelled. Here’s hoping we will start the next chapter of our love story very soon.

I have really loved reading everyone’s ‘how we met’ stories. Great post! 🙂

Hi! I just submitted my I-129F forms today. So excited!

Who else met their fiance in person and not online?

Woo hoo Congrats on filing ! Such an exciting feelings

I met my husband in person. I’m from a very touristy ski/snowboard town. He came every year on a snowboard trip with the boys (for a few seasons in a row).  We very briefly met snowboarding one year, but we were both in separate relationships during that time. We then *officially* met at a Mexican restaurant the following year. We both happened to be single and the rest was history.

At the time. I didn’t want to get married because we’ve only been together for 6 months but looking back now, mainly because of covid-19 I wish I just did that before she left. But I’m happy I went this route. I don’t know how true this is but at the time I thought I read somewhere that the k-1 was the faster route so I think that was why I went that way.        Yes lol good luck and enjoy the ride.

K1 use to be real fast

after 1st meeting in Morocco (2008) i went back to spend June 2009 with him and his family

Applied July when i returned and his interview was 5 months later in November

but these days it is taking as long as a CR1 even before the covid ,  with over 9 million applications (includes all types),  the K1 is taking a lot longer

Best to you and your future

I met my fiancee while I was on vacation in Colombia in June 2005.  She was away from her hometown working.

We saw each other a few times that week. As my flight was departing I had this sense that I should not be leaving. Many emails and chats ensued.

By November 2005 she was back to her hometown and I went to visit and meet the family. Twenty three family and friends were waiting to size me up when I got to her home!

We have visited back and forth many times since then.
