Dear Sir/Madam:

The U.S. Embassy or Consulate has accepted this case for expedited processing. We will send this file immediately to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate.

If you have more questions about processing or the interview appointment date, contact the U.S. Embassy or Consulate directly.

The U.S. Embassy or Consulate might request additional forms or fees at the time of your interview. Please be prepared to bring any needed items at that time.

Please note that it could take up to two weeks for the U.S. Embassy or Consulate to receive the case file once it has shipped from NVC.

Note:  The U.S. Embassy or Consulates are operating with significantly reduced staffing, and it could be several months before they are able to schedule the interview appointment.

LOL😂,

I know the feeling, very happy for you.  Its a process, so keep watching your NVC account.  In a few days you will see an email saying your file was sent off to Kingston and then you will continue to get updates.  It will soon be over.  Give God the glory my friend!

Be blessed!

Good morning everyone!

I have a question. Probably for those who know the answer.

After the interview process and you receive the visa, do you have to pay for the immigrant visa fee and make online application (green card fee) before you fly out of Jamaica, or can you do this once you arrive in the USA?

Good morning, it is preferred that you pay the immigrant fee before arriving in the US as it is a part of the green card processing fee, but it can be paid when you arrive to the US. I believe you have up to 90 days after arrival to pay it.

USCIS has 90 days from the date the fee is paid OR you arrive in the US to issue and mail the green card. Sometimes they mail it within weeks, sometimes it comes right before the 90 days. Not sure what the timing depends on, but generally ppl up north receive it fast but here in Miami dem slow lakka wah!

The fee is $220 and will be paid here https://my.uscis.gov/uscis-immigrant-fee/enter-data after the visa is picked up as you will need the A# on the visa. The Embassy will also include a document in the visa pkt with the A# written on it.

@RedRose75 other day you said Embassy asked you to email the 1040 and W2. Last year they made a big deal about tax transcripts. Therefore, I would download those from irs.gov if you have not already done so and bring them to the interview as well. Ppl were issued 221Gs last year for not having tax transcripts causing another delay.

When did you do your police cert? It's valid for a year but the Embassy needs at least a couple months of validity left on the cert to allow enough time to issue/print the visa and for you/kids to leave the country. Also, medical and police cert. must be valid when entering the US. They used to require at least 6 months validity but since the pandemic I've seen them issue it with just a month or weeks left.

Thanks for that update Stacey.  Really need to ensure that I am very prepared when I get to Jamaica.
