Hey Guys, the below lawyer says that the US Embassy in Jamaica is doing DQ cases from May and June 2020. Hopefully this is accurate so you guys have an idea of where they are.

The Embassy should be on about mid July DQs. They had completed June and moved on to July when they began cancelling appointments again. My husband was DQ'd June 17th and is now in the US. I sure hope they begin ramping up again soon because we have to learn to live with COVID since it apparently isn't going anywhere, at least not soon.

That sounds about right.  So let us assume then they are mid July to the ending of July.  Hopefully by the end of this month, they will complete July DQs and start August DQs.  What a wait.  I never it took so long for them to respond to expedite requests.  I still haven't heard anything from them since sending my request.  So frustrating😒

Sigh, frustrating indeed. I understand their COVID concerns but in an 8 hour day I'm sure they can see more than 8-9 ppl. Ppl's medical and police certificates are going to be expiring requiring them to be redone which means more money to spend 😔

I believe they may have regressed due to categories that were not able to have their interview due to the family ban. After the ban was lifted more than likely they would return to conducting interview in a chronological DQ order.

Hello JamKid, its been awhile.  Blessed Sunday everyone!

Having regressed, do you think the other categories have been pushed back?

I saw a notice from an immigration firm yesterday, and they spoke about the embassy now doing interviews from those categories that were previously ban.  In other words, they are doing probably 2 from that category, a few from categories that were DQ last year as well as those that were cancelled. ...and if they are only doing 8 to 9 cases per day, that's not enough to alleviate the backlog.  Right now, its really tough and they need to step up their game and choose a different strategy.

Hi, just found this thread. What is the current wait time to get an interview?

Hi there, welcome to the team!

Regularly, it used to be 3 months but now currently, we don't know what is going on due to the Covid pandemic.  Right now, I believe they are doing cases that were cancelled last year and it was mentioned that they should be interviewing persons who were DQ in July 2020.

When were you DQ?

Wow! I first went through this process in 2016. I submitted my I-130 Application in February 2016 and my husband was interviewed in September 2016. We are at the nvc stage now for his mother and I know this pandemic slowed things down, but didn't know it was this much of a delay of almost a year. Was hoping she would be here by summer. It doesn't look like that's possible at all.

Idk if thats true cause I'm early July and I haven't heard anything and there are people in the fb group who said they're March and April 2020 DQ and haven't heard anything either. And I'm pretty sure one of the people who said that, she was IR category. So idk what's happening in the embassy. Very confusing. I wish they would just come out with a statement and say which dq they're at.

Yes, there are ppl in certain categories that have been cancelled since March/April i.e. spouses of green card holders. The Embassy should be on July DQ for spouses of US Citizens, IR1/CR1s.

Yes that is true.  The citizenship carries more weight than green card holder.  The processing time for citizenship is shorter than that of green card holders.

Yeah I know. But my thing is I haven't heard anyone in any of the green card categories saying they got IL. Maybe those people just aren't in the forums or in the fb groups but it's very disheartening.
