Hi everyone here! I wish you all the best :),

Ok! am helping someone  with all the paper work to bring their mother to US. Here is the situation please forgive me for the long story !!!

when I filed for them the I130 with USCIS the last name of the applicant ( mother) was based on the passport she has, same as the Birth Cert, everything went well, now her daughter is in the process of gathering all the Civil docs ( step #7) to send with Ds260 for NVC

The problem is when they decided to get a new Birth cert for her mother, one of the last name letter is misspelled, "I"instead of "E". So it is different than the passport. But in reality that is actually the correct name after they checked with the place that issue the birth Cert. Now the name on the passport, and the old Birth Cert are wrong but are the ones that used fo USCIS until now, which is not too far from the interview.

1-How she can proceed?

2- Can she just use the old birth certificate from 2018 since it is matching everything? and then in the future once she has the green card  she can inform them to re-submit another BC with updated passport ?

3- if decided to inform them now, does she have to do the whole process again?

please help ! Thank you very much!

Thank you! I am so pissed! Good luck guys :)

don't be

birth certificates in Morocco expire in 90 days and citizens have to get a new one everytime they complete a process (like national ID or passport or applying for money).  it's a backward system,  since it depends on the family book instead of a registered birth and since the clerks depend on writing in a family book,  it may be hard to read at times especially if an older family member can not read and write and depends on a friend to write in the book or takes it to clerk to write .  as we all know the name Adil can be written as Adil or Adel .   And S--t happens
