AOS fee was said to be incorrect

Hello everyone,
We submitted my AOS as a K1 Visa holder with a money order of $1225 meanwhile, the letter of rejection notice I received states that ”the amount is incorrect” (has the filing fee changed or what ?) I also want to ask if it's a must I submit form I-944 after Submitting form I-864, it's kinda complicated. as anyone ever received such a letter? 
Please I need your advice.

I-944 must be sent with I-864 after Feb 2020.

Send the i944 with the AOS package.. fees haven’t changed, the accepted everything but sent back travel authority saying wrong fee paid... just resend

You must submit the I944 WITH the AOS & I-864. Yeah it’s a bit much but it’s to weed out those who will be a public charge and make sure people can be self sufficient. Highly recommend to apply for EAD and AP as well.

I actually used money order to pay a total of $1,225 for my filing fee yet, they said the payment was incorrect,

I actually don't know maybe my mistake was that I combined the two fees and also on the money order memo part (to indicate what the money was meant for) I wrote "for form I-845.

My question is... what am I not doing right here? Thanks all.

The amount is correct. They rejected because you did something wrong and we're trying to figure out what it is. Most of the times the letter is generic and tells you a lot of things that might have happened.

 

Did you send form I-944 with the package?

Did you use category C9/C09 for EAD?

Did your select (c) on part 2, question 2 of the form 485?

I actually didn't send Form I-944 but I figured out base on the letter sent  to me.

You must be referring to Question 7 for Eligibility Category, I chose "A6" I hope I was right.

For the I-485 Part 2 question 2, Yes, i chose "C"

Another thing again is that: am I supposed to separate AOS fee from Biometric fee? because I actually did combined the two on two money order slips since a slip cant be more than $1,000 meanwhile, the section for meme on the money order slip (purpose of payment)

"Form I-485 " was written on both", I don't know if that was right.

C09 is the correct category - using A6 is wrong and does increase the fee.

Two mistakes already.

 

Not sending the I-944 and choosing the wrong category, the right one is C9/C09.

 

Redo your forms and pay attention to the instructions.

 

You don't need to separate the biometric fee.

A6 is for K-1 people who file for an EAD before filing for AOS. Nobody does that, not even sure why that category still exists. When you choose this category you have to pay for the EAD, that's why your rejection letter mentions incorrect fee.

 

When you file for the EAD along with the AOS, the category is C9, and only then is the EAD for free.

It's basically still a filing option because the government hasn't removed the (a)(6) subsection from 8 CFR § 274a.12. Decades ago a select few POEs issued the ultra-rare EAD stamp (for free) based on that subsection.
