Amazon asks employees to delete TikTok amid security concerns
 

On Monday, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the U.S. is considering banning the Chinese-owned video app TikTok due to security concerns, and on Tuesday, President Trump confirmed, “It’s something we’re looking at, yes.”

Now Amazon has banned its U.S. employees from using it.

In an email on Friday, obtained by Yahoo Finance, Amazon (AMZN) told U.S. employees to remove TikTok from all mobile devices connected to Amazon email, or lose access to their email.

Interestingly, the company is still allowing employees to access TikTok on a laptop.

The email read: “Due to security risks, the TikTok app is no longer permitted on mobile devices that access Amazon email. If you have TikTok on your device, you must remove it by Jul-10 to retain mobile access to Amazon email. At this time, using TikTok from your Amazon laptop browser is allowed.” Amazon employees in Europe did not receive the email.
