Reporting Fraud to USCIS/CBP--Worth it?

I don't want to diminish how severely immigration fraud impacts everyone who follows the proper, legal steps to immigrate . . . BUT . . . you say that you have access to their social media and have a wedding invitation suggesting your are more than a casual acquaintance to this couple.  If you are comfortable with your motivations to report your friends, are you confident of the facts surrounding their case and their intentions.  If you are wrong, your report could have a long-lasting impact on your friends' education and lives together.  If they are making statements on social media that show an intent to commit immigration fraud, the CBP may also access these statements at the port of entry.

 

Before reporting them, perhaps direct them to Visa Journey or other immigration resources so they can make a more informed decision about their immigration intentions.  As noted previously, the student visa has been used legally so far and the couple can marry while she is a student. It is what they intend to do after the marriage that could be problematic.  Their intent to commit fraud in the future may be out of ignorance of the law rather than willful manipulation of the system.  If you have not done so already, help them first and report them (if necessary) second. 😃

I`m assuming if they invite you to their wedding you are  somewhat "close" friends. Did you try to talk to them about this before reporting them ?

Before you report your "friends" don't forget to RSVP no and tell them why. Tell them you're reporting them and inform them on the legal way to do things. If they agree to do it legally, then it's all good

Why don't you mind your own business and stop harassing other people who don't even have a mean to harm you? Last time I checked the first lady came to this country with an "Enstein visa"

Really?  Do you think it is OK for everyone to totally disregard immigration law?  What harassment?  Did the first lady enter the US with the intent to marry Trump and adjust status?  If you have proof that she did, I think you should report it.

What would you do if you saw a fb post about someone intending to rob a house ? Would you also really tell yourself to

" mind your business ?" 

Wow hopefully there is not too many people with this mindset !

Nobody is breaking the law here. She will come to the US with a valid F1 visa, what she does afterward is none of our business, it's USCIS job. All the conspiracies and accusations above have never happened.

It is the same thing like someone coming to US with tourist visa and planing or even to apply AOS! 

Or using Tourist visa to remaining stay in US and working at black market, yes that person came legally to US.

 

The intent itself is a fraud. IF OP report this person then CBP can check throughly if her intention is genuinely to use F1 or other else.

I can't imagine thinking it was my business to do this sort of thing and mess with others' lives without speaking with them and telling them what they're doing (if indeed that's what they're doing) is wrong. I would also think that if I were invited to someone's wedding, I would have a close enough relationship with them to counsel them against it because I care about them. That is what friends do -- not engage in life-altering "gotcha" games. Even if I were dead set on reporting them, I would give them a heads up that I was going to notify CBP to give them the opportunity to do it right. That could mean entering and getting married, and then applying for the CR1 without adjusting after.

I can't think of any motives other than a personal hatred to that specific person.

You have the info- why not report it? You would do your part and then it’s up to CBP/USCIS to follow up if they choose.. it may or may not go anywhere but at least you did what you felt was right.

 

Personally I think adjusting status from visas other than k1 should have been removed years ago. You are telling me people actually travel to a foreign country with their life documents, no home, car or job any more and didn’t “plan” to stay ? Yeah.. 😒
