Neithet NVC nor USCIS can do anything regarding extending as that authority is with the consulate.   Once the petition moves on to the foreign post, then you might wish to contact

All visa interviews are performed at a US consulate abroad.   Sometimes the consulate is located on the US embassy compound but sometimes it is not and can be located in a different city altogether.

Consulate is usually a section of the Embassy.
