I have been sitting at NVC since January.

It is a long wait for an interview but they have started rescheduling now the people who had their interviews in March and April cancelled due to COVID. These people had DQs from October, November and December 2019.

Thanks for this. The assurance is helpful even though that news is disappointing. I clearly didn’t do enough research to anticipate this. For some naïve reason, I expected the consular processing to be relatively quick in comparison to the USCIS processing time.

Hope you get some good news soon.

Thanks. I went back over my records and was DQ’ed in June.

This may be totally futile, but is anyone else irate that Montreal is so backed up? I know being angry won’t help the line move. But come on. This has to be a case of under resourcing or ineffective management and administration at some level. It seems completely unacceptable that after waiting so long at USCIS there’s yet another cue at the Consulate when there is no quota on immediate family members. And Montreal’s overall processing numbers do not compare with other global cities.

Excellent news!

I think we're all irate, or at least were at some point (personally I'm past irate and into resigned acceptance). The backlog wouldn't even be that bad from covid alone, but they shut down spousal interviews for a few months last summer as well with NO explanation. I think the way they've handled both that and the covid shut down have been worse than the fact that they have a backlog tbh.

Hello @DGF ,

New to the forums and I see mentions of a private thread regarding the Montreal Consulate? Could I request an invite to it? I've filled out my timeline (including DQ date).

Also, out of curiosity, why is it private?

Added you!

Honestly I don't know, I didn't start it. I think when it was started there wasn't a lot of activity in the Canada forum (there still isn't tbh) and it's just continued on because it's actually active. It's certainly not a secret or anything and the timeline requirement is just to keep the spreadsheet up to date (I don't run that either!) and to make sure we're all contributing to the data that makes VJ so great. The FAQ is so people can read everything we've figured out that could be beneficial to future applicants without having to join the chat because we definitely don't want to be gatekeepers to any information!

I think we should bring down the group for the interest of all. This cannot be reasonably sustained if we are adding new people with new DQ's all the time. Most of the info is covered in the FAQ anyway.

A good time to take the call would be once Montreal complete's the re-scheduling of all cancelled interview and starts with the non-cancelled interviews would be a good time. I see that you are the first in line whose interview was never scheduled, so once yours gets scheduled, I think we can delete the private thread (and hopefullly start a new thread in the Regional forum)

What it needs to be is a thread, but there have been many attempts to turn it into one and all have failed. At the very least I think we're coming up on the point where we need to start a fresh chat as we're well into 300+ pages and it's getting quite slow to post to. As for the FAQ, it would be much harder to maintain without a centralized source of information.

Eventually all of it will no longer be needed (looking forward to that day because it'll likely be because Montreal has finally sorted out their backlog), but while it is still serving people I don't see the harm.

Nope. I was only told they have begun reviewing the applications for the cancelled K1 interviews but nothing updated.

Did you speak with someone at the consulate recently or receive an email? Just wondering how recent this info is. A bit disappointing that they moved literally the day after the announcement to schedule CR1, but over 2 weeks after announcing K1 they haven't scheduled anything.
