Yeah I'll believe it when I see it. Other embassies like London have been scheduling and rescheduling for months now and not conducting any interviews or issuing any visas. So far, the State Department's world-wide suspension of routine visa services stands, and K-1s are still not considered a "mission-critical" exception to this suspension. Until this suspension is lifted, unless you can successfully convince them it's an emergency, then it doesn't matter how open or closed your embassy or host country is, they will not issue K-1 visas.

OP, it's going to be impossible to guess if you'll get it this year or next year, especially since you just submitted your paperwork in February. Those of us near the front of the line who had our appointments cancelled on us don't even know if we'll get it this year or next year or whenever. Montreal has barely communicated anything to us, but to be fair, the State Department as a whole has barely communicated anything whatsoever in regards to the visa suspensions.

I’m also very aware that there are plenty of people who submitted a head of me. 🙂 I’m sorry you’re still waiting and submitted before me. I understand it’s frustrating times and I did ask for your opinion. But again it is just your opinion, what you speculate will happen could be the complete opposite in a bad or good way. We’ll all be updated as Montreal updates us, I understand that. But maybe somebody has had an answer we haven’t heard yet. I have seen some embassies issuing interviews for k1 visas that weren’t emergencies. Just keep in mind when responding to people’s post that we are all going through the same thing and the point is to be nice and supporting. 😊

Lol yes it is. In all forms it’s all we have right now is to speculate. But I’m going to believe (to keep my sanity) it won’t take that long! 😁

That is a start yes, thank you! Now just to get the one in Montreal Canada to open. Lol

I would not count on this as a sign that other embassies are opening, or even that one is interviewing for that matter. My fiancé and I had our interview at the London embassy cancelled for August 7th and have not been able to schedule another once since.

The only information I do have is that embassy reopenings will be based on CDC guidelines as well as local conditions so some countries containing the virus better may open before others.

Thank you for your information. I also was aware of that, I chose to see the small things as good signs and hope for the best.

I have actually found this thread quite good (not much speculation) mostly just people stating whether They have been able to schedule and follow through with the interview or get cancelled As well as messages they receive from senators, DoS, embassies, etc.

It says London but people from other embassies have been chiming in and it is pretty active.

Before COVID Montreal was already a 6 to 8 month wait.

They are very strict with emergency issues.

So next year sometime seems realistic.

I didn’t think Montreal was 6-8 month wait, everyone else I seen only waited 4 months at the longest most got an interview within 2-3 months of their NOA2, but even still I think you’re right and  next year is more realistic.

As I remember, Montreal and Mexico were experiencing backlogs before the virus.  I can only assume the wait will be significantly longer now.

One positive sign is that Canada is being super strict in trying to contain the spread of the virus, and it is working, so the likelihood of Montreal opening up again is better than embassies/consulates in many countries, like Brazil, where the virus is spreading very quickly right now.  So that's a positive for Canada, for what it's worth.  I always say plan for the worst, hope for the best, then you won't be too disappointed if the interview is scheduled for late next year or even 2022.  Until there's an effective vaccine, things will continue to be very uncertain and predictions will vary widely depending on who you talk to.  Good luck!

That is a very positive note! I think it would much easier to wait that long if it was still possible to go and visit your spouses. But you are very right expect the worst, hope for the best. 😁 thank you.

What I was seeing reported was a minimum of 6 months pre-COVID, and often longer.

I just ran some numbers via the VJ timeline search. https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/filterlist.php?cfl=

I limited it to IR-1/CR-1 visas through Montreal with a NOA2 between March 1st, 2019 through March 1st, 2020 (just to eliminate any sort of COVID interruption).

The average timeframe between NOA2 and interview for those individuals was 277 days, or roughly 9 months. I would chalk up about 2-3 months tops for NVC processing to get DQ.

Yes it was a 6m wait before COVID.  Not sure if it was that long for K1 though, since they book their own appointments. Montreal has been struggling the last couple years.
